"It's no use. They would have fled by now," she sighed.

"Fled from what...?" Then suddenly Gandal realised, "Oh..."

"Yeah. I know."

"We shall split up; check in as many building as you can." He said hastily, "There has to be at least someone still here."

She sighed. "Your right but I don't like that idea. I'll take the left side of town. call out if you need me."

Gandal nodded, running to the left; hope fading with every step.

She didn't see anyone an hour after the two split. She was hoping someone would survive. But it looked like they didn't. She ran past a statue that had been half destroyed. Looking and walking through every house was hard enough. Finding the dead was harder.

He finally stood up, and brushed himself off. Dang, that took quite a while to recover from. He makes a mental note to himself to never do that again, before heading into the direction he remember the others running towards, hoping that he'll be able to meet up with them.

Kai walked into another house. In the corner, hudled into a ball, was a little girl. Kai watched her momentarily with sympathy. She had probably watched her family die like she had. She walked over to the girl and rested a hand on her shoulder. The girl jumped. "It's okay. I'm only trying to help you." She helped the girl up. She walked outside and helped the girl to walk. "Gandal!!!" she called.

Gandal turned; he was about to open a door. His head cracked to the left where Kai's plea came from. Gandal spun and ran.

"It's going to be okay," she told the girl.

Gandal reached Kai, sweat dripping from his forehead.

"Gandal. Someone survived."

Gandal nodded; not too surprised. "That's nice." He went to his knees; examining the child.

The girl turned away from him and hid behind Kai's leg. Kai turned her head toward her. "It's okay. He won't hurt you," she said.

Gandal turned his head to the left; slowly rising to his feet, "Good job." He said slowly; frowning.

"Did you find anyone?" she asked desperatly. She needed there to be others.

"I was about to enter a building when you call me." He replied.

"I have almost finished looking through here. I will catch up with you soon," she said gingerly. She turned to the child and held out her hand. "My name is Kai. I will look after you. I won't let anything happen to you. I promise," she said with a warm smile. The girl took her hand and squeezed it. "I'm Rebecca," she said.

Gandal lolled his head, "Shall we search for more survivors?"

"I don't want to leave anyone behind," she said as she stood. "Meet you in an hour."

"Okay." With that he sprinted off, his weapons clattering at his side.

Kai walked with Rebecca for a while longer and checked the other houses. All she found were a few supplies and more dead bodies.

Gandal reached a large house; larger than the others. A large spire was extended from a wooden roof and all the windows had wood plastered over them. He shuddered as he opened the door, a shrill creak rupturing the silence like a plate shattering.

Kai checked another house to no prevail. "Well this sucks," she muttered. She walked out again and heard a low, distant growl.
