Alright, the rules are simple.
No god-modding, No swearing (Saying "Joe cursed" is alright), no killing anyone unless absolutely necessary, and no inappropriate scenes. Other than that, have fun.

The world has fallen into despair. People have gone missing in the middle of the night and animals are acting strange. There is one thing that everyone is afraid of. The Shadow. It lurks by day and hunts by night. No-one has seen it, no-one knows where it is. But there are a few people who are immune to it's unknown powers. The Outliers. But not only are they immune, they know where it is. You are an Outlier in one of the many camps scattered around the world. You must fight to save your friends. And what little family you may still have.

I'll start. I will play as Kai. A hunter with extraordinary skills.

She watched the camp. She was aware of every movement. Especially that of the Shadow. As an Outlier, life was hard. She felt the beast when it first arrived in the world. And now it wanted her. And any other Outlier in the world. She was too young to join the army that was assembled. She was only sixteen and they wouldn't let her help. Kai stood. That was enough for one day.

The teen was standing outside, strands of his unruly white hair peeking out from under a black hood. He leaned back, trying to make himself comfortable in a war zone. That's what they said it was, anyways. Despite the lack of damage to the property in this town, the inhabitants were at unease, muttering to each other and always looking around, as if there was a beast that could take them away at any moment.
But the rumours said there was, which is why the teen was here in the first place.

Gandal strolled over to the post, where Kai stood at. 'Time to swap?' He said, his weaponry clanking by his side. The past few days for him had been hell, his witnessed his family being ripped to shreds... He mentally flicked the though away, sighing loudly.

"I know," Kai really didn't have time to talk. May of the people in the camp had witnessed their families dying before they did themselves. She also had seen her family ripped into millions of pieces. She was becoming accustomed to the death around her. "I'll be in the girl's Outliers tent if you need me."

Before Kai could move away, Gandal grabbed her arm, 'stay safe.' For a second, he had a twinkle in his eyes which quickly dissapeared.

Kai moved closer to him, releasing his grip slightly. "I will. But you need to stay safe as well. Be observant and don't leave the post like you did last time." She smiled. As she walked back to the tent, she looked over her shoulder to Gandal. She chuckled and went into the tent. As her head hit the pillow, she drifted to sleep.

'Damn!' Gandal cursed, his head drooping, keep alert, keep alert, keep alert, the words such through his head like daggers, piercing into his conscience. He didn't want to tell Kai how he felt about her... He dismissed the thought, raised his head, looking out into the flat land, he thought he saw something... Something...

Kai felt a disturbance in the peace. She sat up and opened the tent. She felt like she had been asleep for two minutes. But the sun told her otherwise. She had been sleeping for two hours. She walked over to Gandal. "What is it?" He didn't even need to walk over to her and tell something was wrong for her to know.

'Nothing., he said, rubbing his eyes, 'well... I did see something...' His words were distracted by Kai's flawless beaty, he shook his head. Abrubtly all went silent, the wind slowed and the tree falter to sway, well, this was awkward.

Kai knew that something was wrong. Gandal was never rubbing his eyes. Not even when he woke up. She looked over to the trees. She closed her eyes and let the wind ruffle her hair and let it breathe more life into her. Not that she needed it. She was a tired Outlier. "I'll stay out here," she said opening her eyes. "That way, we can both look out for anything strange."

'Of-' before he could finish a tentacle wrapped around his head, a long, black, slimy tentacle covered in disgusting mold and a green substance. Gandal screamed as the tentacle slithered around him more, before slowly bringing him down, 'sound the alarm!' He screamed as he was pulled over the wall.

Kai wouldn't raise any unnecessary alarm. She chased after the shadow when she finally caught up with it, she ran along the trees and grabbed her sword from her back. She cut the tentacle with it. As Gandal fell, she put her arms out and caught him. She set him on his feet and dusted him off. "We should get back."

Gandal cursed, 'that'd be nice...' He was scared stiff, his hands shaking uncontrollably. He moaned and pain shot through his head,

Kai held his hands to stop them from shaking. "I know your scared. We all are. But you have to be strong for everyone else as well." She wanted to say that he had to be strong for her, but she couldn't.

'This is too dangerous.' He replied, 'we are all going to end up dying anyways.' He sighed, wiping sweat from his forehead.

"Don't say that! If the Outliers aren't strong enough than who else will be?"

Gandal didn't reply, he just shut his eyes, closing off the world around him, he hated being here, Kai was the only nice one. The rest... All they cared about were guns and killing.

"We have to go back. I know what you're thinking. But we can't."

'Okay.' He said opening his eyes. Tonight, he would escape. He would pay respect to his family and live alone, he always wanted that. Well, he wouldn't mind being with Kai. His dad was a shop manager, he earnt a fair amount of money, enough to send Gandal to a private school. His mum couldn'tcwork, she was more of a house mum, always helping with the family. He had two brothers, one which was 5 and another which was 13, he witnessed them both die.

That was a terrible day, he had never witnessed a death, he never wanted to. It had been two years since they died. Gandal was considered lucky he didn't perish with his relatives. Most probably because he had been going for a walk at the time. He returned to see tentacles slamming through the house... Dark sky, black clouds. He sighed, mentally. 

He looked at Kai, she was stunning, even when she had black blood all over her. He smiled for the first time in so long. Maybe he would bring her tonight, they could escape...

Kai sighed. "I know that look. I can't. I have to stay." She gave him a kiss on the cheek and began to walk back to the camp. She stopped and looked back at him. "Are you sure this is what you want?"

Gandal nodded and walked back to his tent. His head drooped and he couldn't be bothered zipping  the tent, instead he threw himself on his sleeping back, groaning with annoyance.

Kai was worried about Gandal. She couldn't make him stay. But she couldn't go with him either. "I want you to stay," she said quietly when she had flopped down onto her sleeping bag. "But I can understand if you leave. I don't want you to go."

Gandal ignored her, 'we can be free, find out what the shadows mean...' He moaned, 'it doesn't matter anyways.' He sighed, 'goodnight.' He dug his nose into his pillow, signing again mentally. He didn't know what to do now.

"We can never be free with the shadow around. But I would like to know what it means, and what it wants. Goodnight Gandal." She rolled over onto her side and shut her eyes. "May tomorrow bring a brighter light" It was a prayer that she always said before she slept. She was pretty sure that Gandal and the others were getting sick of it. But right now, she didn't care.

Gandal closed his eyes, maybe later... Maybe... Later. And with his conscience fell asleep.
