"I.... Uh..." Chase looked at Alana as he took a scoop of the soup out of the can and quickly ate it, "I'm sorry about before."

Alana finally allowed herself to look at him out of sheer confusion. "What are you sorry for?" She asked in a quiet voice.

"For... Before..." He looked back at her and stared glumly, before giving a shake of his head, "Nevermind." Chase said with a minor groan as he took another gulp out of the can.

Alana looked at him confused and slightly worried then looked down, feeling even worse as she muttered quietly. "You didn't do anything..."

Noticing she didn't understand what he meant from his apology, he sighed and took a few steps toward her, dismissing the food, "I'm sorry for... coming close to you." He said, his cheeks inflaming a bright pink which he quickly hid by turning around. This clearly wasn't a situation he was comfortable being in, nor speaking about it.

Alana looked at him surprised and blushed a little bit before looking away as well. "I don't hate you Chase... I just don't want to lose someone close to me again..."

"I... I know. It was stupid of me." He went back to eating the soup until it was halfway full and pushed it aside, leaving the fork in the tin. "I'm sorry." He repeated once again before returning to his seated position on the couch, placing his hands against his temples with content.

Alana didn't respond, to be honest, she hadn't minded it, in fact, she actually liked him quite a bit already, but she knew that was dangerous territory that she didn't want to get into again.

Victor returned with an extra bag of food and something which looked like knives and clothes. "One of the rooms were stashed with pocket knives and a pistol. I have no idea why, but it should come in handy." He said with a grimace as he placed them on the kitchen bench, muttering a thanks for the soup before devouring it in a matter of about ten seconds.

Alana glanced over to look at the clothes and knives then looked down again.

Victor looked between them both and exhaled loudly, "Is something going on between you two, or is it just me?" He placed one hand on his hip as he awaited an answer.

Alana shook her head softly. "It's nothing... I'm just tired..." She said quietly as she didn't look at either of them.

Chase gave a nod, "It's been a long day." He picked up both bags of supplies and moved to the door, "I'm ready to get going when you both are." He muttered, changing the subject as he rested his back against the sturdy frame of the door.

Alana shrugged. "I'm ready whenever."

Victor gave a nod, "I'm sorry if I've been rushing you guys with all this, once we can get out of here, we can have some fun and get some rest. Okay?" He said somewhat rhetorically as he picked up some bags of supplies behind the kitchen counter and moved over to the front door.

Alana nodded silently and carried her share to the front door.

Chase gave a nod and half hearted smile as he stepped from the door, opening for them both. "Keep close." He said somewhat reassuringly as he Victor exited the house cautiously, looking side to side before completely exiting the threshold.

Alana followed after them, keeping an eye on the back.

Victor took lead of the group and Chase stayed in the middle, his eyes darting side to side with caution as they moved. They turned a corner, reaching the barren side of the city, filled with upturned cars, burning buildings and the sky filled with soot and ash.

Alana kept her ears open but eyes on the ground, not wanting to see the carnage.

"Lucky they didnt come into our street." Victor muttered as he adjusted the bags so he gripped them more efficeiently.

Chase muttered in agreement as he looked up at the windows, searching for any distinct sign of life.

Alana continued walking silently.

Once they reached the end of the street, the sound of a low humming came ahead, before the low chatter of guards came into view. Victor ushered them to move back, behind a flipped over car until they were out of view on a small patrol up ahead, slowly coming toward their location.

Alana crouched down behind the car and remained silent.

Chase pressed his body against the car, inhaling and trying not to make any noise. One of the guards ahead of the patrol moved past, muttering words into one of the radios, the words unclear from the low humming of one of the patorl vehicles.
