Alana held her breath as she remained still.

With the first two soldiers passing, the large, armored vehicle moved past, barely visble from the heated car which they used as a barrier between them. The car moved slowly, arousing dust form the ground until it had also passed, a few more of the soldiers following until they turned a corner, leading into another one of the streets. After that, the humming came very low until it was no more.

Alana let out a silent breath when they were gone but didn't dare speak.

Chase silently moved out, the first to make a move and peered down the street, “Looks like they’re gone.” He said, about to turn away when a volley of gunfire came down to where he was standing, forcing him to retreat back behind the car. “Get back!” He yelled as shots pinged from the metal which shielded them, leaving a mere dint with the bullets dropping to the ground.

Alana gasped and ducked down so that the windows wouldn't show her.

"Who's shooting at us." Victor said nervously as he shuffled along the frame of the car before running over to the protection of another car, Chase following instinctively.

"I have no idea." Chase said as he moved his head from the windows, in case any gunfire came through, no glass would shatter into his head, but moreso topple away from him. "There must be patrols on the roofs."

Alana stayed behind the other car, too startled to move.

"Alana," Chase called, tempted to run over to her and personally drag her behind the car, "Get over here." He said with slight force, his eyes darting about the rooftops as the gunshots came to a momentary cease, before starting back up again.

Alana looked over at him nervously and she took a deep breath before dashing over, a bullet nearly missing her head.

Victor took a quick glance up at the buildings, seeing a few men glance over the rooftops with heavy weapons, pointing them at their current position before retreating to cover. "They're up on the rooftops, alright." He said with a slight moan, moving into more of a squatting position as his eyes darted around, looking for somewhere where they could hide.

Alana looked around. "Follow me." She said, dashing towards a cellar door.

Victor gave a nervous nod and Chase followed, slinging the bags over his shoulders to release the weigh off his hands as he opened up the cellar door, shots pinging toward where he had been recently standing and pinging from the ground.

Alana scrambled inside and waited for the other's before closing the door.

Chase went in first, plunging into the darkness with the bags and moving away from the ladder which led into the cellar. Victor followed after, carrying one of the lighter bags of supplies which were around his shoulders, bumping into Chase on the way. It was indeed dark down here, the only source of light from above where Alana was holding the cellar door open.

Alana slammed the door closed as fast as she could and let out a scream as a bullet embedded itself in her arm before the doors closed.

Chase, unable to see in the darkness, dropped the bags and extended his hands until they touched the ladder, half catching, half stumbling as Alana dropped into his hands, clearly wounded by a gunshot. "She's been shot." Chase said, trying his best to stay calm as he felt Victor's hands touch his, obviously as he was trying to see where he was going.

Alana groaned as she gripped her arm tightly in pain.

"It's going to be okay." Victor said as he took her in his arms and lay her upon the cold, hard ground, feeling around until he got to her arm, "Where'd you get shot?"

Alana gasped and bit her lip to keep from screaming as he touched her arm. "I-In my lower arm..."

"I can't tend to it in this darkness and I doubt the cellar has any supplies to help you." He said in a low mutter as he heard footsteps above, forcing the ground to creak in protest from the dozens of boots which stepped over it.

Alana nodded in understanding then realized he probably couldn't see it. "O-Ok..." She whispered, holding her arm tightly.

“I’m sorry.” He said, rubbing his forehead nervously as he moved away from Alana and felt for Chase, shuffling by his side. “There must be some kind of light in here, but I assume the city’s power’s been turned off.” He said as he exhaled loudly, leaning against an irregular shaped object.
Chase muttered something as he pulled one of the bags toward him, rummaging around before he pulled out something. Not long after, the sound of a strike emanating from where he was sitting and a small burst of light began to blossom from a match he held in his hand, a box of matches in the other. “I knew I’d grabbed some before we left.” He said with a childish grin, revealing the glum interior of the cellar, filled with boxes of beer and alcohol.

Alana just lay on the ground, her eyes closed as she tried to deal with the pain.

Victor gave a slight smile before the match flickered, before naturally extinguishing. Chase cursed beneath his breath as he lit another match and grabbed a bundle of the toilet paper which was in one of the bags of supplies. Placing it on the ground, he lit it with the match, separating it from the cardboard boxes and making sure it couldn’t light anything else up.
In a matter of seconds, the flames encapsulated the whole of the paper and made a ‘camp fire’ of sorts, spreading warmth through the cold and damp cellar. Chase hovered his hands over it and glanced over at Victor, “I don’t know how long this will last, but at least we have some warmth.”

Alana tried to turn towards the warmth but whimpered as she tried to move her arm.
