"Dearest apologies." Victor muttered, helping her out of the cupboard before closing the door behind her, slipping the padlock back onto the door handles. "Why is James looking for you?" He asked, placing a hand on her back.

Alana shrugged and looked at Chase. "I don't know, I didn't hear him say it."

Chase stepped forward, leaning his sturdy frame against the threshold of the door, "James thinks she can help him with making turning clones into a weapon."

Alana nodded in understanding.

"But why is James doing this? He has no power, all he is, is a scientist. Just like me." He said, giving a sigh as he rest his hand against a bench which was ahead of him, "He must be working for someone."

Alana thought for a moment. "He's probably working semi-interdependently in the interest of someone who's had a taste of power and wants more. My guess is he offered James a share of that power and now he's looking for a way to gain more."

Chase gave a nod, giving a agreement to her point as a deafening bang emanated from outside, followed by the screams of people. Both Victor and Clarence, stricken from the conversation rushed to the nearest window, gasping at what he saw.

"They're rounding the clones up like animals." Chase said, his eyes wide with fear as he moved away from the window, Victor's eyes glued to the unfolding scene.

Alana went over, watching and just as one soldier was about to shoot a clone she flung him back with her mind.

Victor whipped around, pushing Alana back gently, "Alana!" He roared, closing the curtains, "You know not to use those powers anymore. You're going to get us all killed!"

Alana looked up at him, her eyes blank and empty. "You don't expect me to just sit back and watch innocent people get killed do you?"

Victor shook his head, looking away from her, "That last time you used your powers, you nearly destroyed the whole of Earth." He ran a hand through his sweaty hair, before pointing toward Chase, "Lock every door and window. Please."

Alana looked at him with her dead eyes but she somehow seemed upset with him, though you couldn't tell through the emotionless look she'd gotten so good at. She turned and went back in the lab.

Chase scurried off, locking every door and window as he was asked, Victor following Alana, "I'm sorry..." He muttered, softly placing a hand on her shoulder, "I shouldn't of set myself off like that, but I need you to promise to stop doing that kind of stuff. Please.

Alana looked up at him, not saying anything.

"Promise me, Alana." The stern tone returning to his voice as his eyes drilled into hers.

Alana finally sighed. "Fine."

"Thank you." He let a smile tug at his dry lips as he looked back out the window, closing his eyes as a bullet pierced through one of the clones.

Alana's eyes were downcast and she turned away, leaving the room to go find somewhere quiet.

Chase moved behind Alana as she passed through the kitchen, "Hey." He said, placing both hands in his pockets as he caught up with her haste filled pace.

Alana didn't say anything, just kept walking.

"Uh..." He moved awkwardly, his shoulder bumping into the threshold of a door, "How are you feeling?"

Alana continued to look at the ground. "Like it's happening all over again..."

"Like what's happening again?" He said, one eyebrow raising as he exhaled rather loudly, "What are you talking about?"

Alana looked away. "Something like this... it happened before..."

"You mean... the apocalypse, right?" Chase said with a stutter, feeling foolish for naming the event which occurred ten yeas ago that. "I was only eight when it ended... I remember it so vividly."
