Alana wrapped her arms around herself and curled up on the arm chair, trying to hold back the tears.

Mark ripped the lid of the can open and ate the inside hastily before walking over to the gun which was on the floor and picked it up. He then looked over at Alana and sighed before walking over to Arland and sitting next to him.

Alana just continued to stare out the window. Apparently the guys had taken care of the bodies but she still couldn't look at the spots where they died.

Arland looked over at Mark as he placed his finished bowl of food near his feet, "Where's Martin?" He asked, his eyes being pulled over to Alana, sighing.

Mark poured the rest of the tin's contents into his mouth and burped loudly, placing a hand over his mouth. "He's looking around the house."

Alana stayed curled up.

Martin walked from an elongated hallway and sighed, "There's hardly any food in-" He looked at Mark, Arland and Alana, instantly noticing the tense aura which had been aroused between the three. He speechlessly moved over to Alana and sat next to her, "Hey."

"Hey..." Alana said, her eyes as dull and distant as her voice as she stared out the window.

"What's up?" He said, shuffling closer to her as he looked out the window with her.

Alana sighed softly. "Oh you know, the usual, life falling apart and all." Her tone wasn't bitter, just incredibly sad.

"I'm not even supposed to exist Alana, you're lucky you still have a life." He said slowly, sighing.

Alana nodded softly and looked at the ground. "I know... sorry... I told you that not even two days ago..." She sighed and leaned back against the couch, closing her eyes. "This is one messed up world huh?"

"We're going to fix this world up." He said, placing his hand on hers, a smile pulling at his lips, "I promise."

Alana looked down at his hand on her's then she finally looked up at him and she smiled softly. "Yeah..." She said, squeezing his hand softly, then letting out a sigh. "Thanks..." She said in barely a whisper.

He looked at her for a second, the smile dropping from his face as he stared at her. Martin then looked away, blinking twice. "Sorry." He muttered, not sure what had just happened, but he felt as if a feeling had just been clicked in place - feelings for Alana.

Alana looked confused but nodded softly and smiled a little more. "It's alright." She stood up and stretched. "Well, I'm gonna go get the money that's stored away and we can see how much we have, and decide what to use it for." She went off into her parent's old den.

Martin just sat there and turned around so he could look out the window.

Alana grabbed the stack of cash from behind the wood board in her parents closet and went back to the living room counting. "Alright... looks like we have approximately $235."

Arland looked up, "Awesome." He said before looking over at Mark, "We best get going in a few minutes."

Mark nodded, standing up, bringing the empty can with him, and throwing it in the kitchen sink. He then turned toward Martin and then Alana and nodded.

Alana nodded softly and handed some money out to each of them. "In case we get separated or... something happens to one of us... This way we will all have our own money left if that happens."

Arland put a hand on her shoulder, "We won't get separated." He said as he stashed the wad of cash into his pocket and looked toward the door, "Let's go."

Alana nodded and headed for the door.

Arland, Mark and Martin followed - Mark being the one to open for the others before following once again, thrusting his hands into the pockets of his jumper and lowering his head. Martin crossed his arms and Arland simply concealed the knife in his black jacket.

Alana led them through the town. "So what's the plan? Do we steal a car or chance walking?"

"I suggest we walk." Arland said, turning around, "For the first hour, then we'll steal something... much better." He smiled, Mark knowing exactly what he was speaking about.

Alana looked confused but nodded and led them out of the gates to the city.
