Tarvo shook her shoulder again. "Karin it's alright. It's just a dream." His voice was soft and reassuring. He hoped she would wake up.

"M-Mm..." Karin's eyes slowly opened and she looked up through tear wet eyes. "T-Tarvo...?"

Tarvo nodded his head and wiped Karin's tears. "It's alright. It was just a dream." He smiled softly at her. At least years if looking after his sisters have him some skills.

"O-Oh..." She looked down. "I was dreaming about... my father..." She smiled up at him. "Thanks."

His smile widened. "You're welcome. Do you mind telling me about it?"

Karin sighed sadly and sat up. "It was kind of a dream caused by memories. I was remembering..." She looked down. "My father beating me..."

Tarvo looked away, his face saddening. He knew that feeling of being beaten by his father. The immense pain.

Karin looked down. "That's part of why I don't want to go back home..."

"What's the other part?" He was too curious for his own good.

Karin sighed. "Well... I've always been suicidal in that place. My future was decided for me, I couldn't choose my own life and I had no one supporting me... I just wanted to die..."

Tarvo reached out and held her hand. "Death just creates more problems. They would forget about you in a month. The best revenge for something like that is to be happy and successful."

Karin looked at him, her eyes teary. "I... I just... can't go back there..."

"I know. I understand. I'll make sure nothing happens to you though." He smiled again. "I better check the meat," he said. He stood and walked over to the small fire.

Karin nodded and went to get up, that's when she noticed the blanket and a small smile appeared on her face. She folded it up before heading over to sit next to him.

Tarvo turned the cooking meat so it would be evenly cooked. He sighed as he looked out the window. He wondered what his sisters were doing. Were they crying, or were they getting on and forgetting him? He didn't know, but he missed them a lot already.

Karin looked at him sadly. "I'm sorry..."

He looked at her and smiled sadly. "It's not your fault."

"It kinda is... if I hadn't stumbled onto your tribe and gotten myself in trouble you'd still be with your people..."

He sighed. "It's nt my people I miss. I just miss my sisters. And it's still not your fault. You weren't to know there was a barrier." He smiled at the fire and turned the meat before it caught.

Karin nodded slowly, still feeling a little guilty but hiding it now.

Tarvo pulled the squrril meat from the fire and handed one to Karin. "There you are. Cooked squirrel. You should wait for it to cool a bit though." He held his and blew on it for a little while before grabbing a small chunk and eating it slowly.

Karin nodded. "Thanks." She looked at the meat, she'd never had squirrel meat before, but she blew on it as well and took a bite. "Not bad..." She said.

Tarvo smiled. He was always told how evil the people in the Outside were, ever since he was just a boy. He looked over at Karin. They weren't that bad at all. They seemed as complex as they were. He couldn't lie to himself, he liked Karin. She understood him.

Karin looked over at him, noticing how the light flickered across his face and how bright his eyes looked in the darkness. He was very handsome, she realized, despite the weird body paintings and natural tribal look to him.

He looked away and continued eating, embarrased that he had been caught staring. "Do you like it?" he asked, his tribal accent wasn't thick but it wasn't too thin to be mistaken with the outsiders either.
