"How close to the border do you live?" he asked, a little annoyed. He was slightly curious about the outside but he didn't want to push boundaries. He didn't even know this girls name.

"I told you." She said. "It took me half an hour to get here." She looked around the room curiously and looked back at him, studying him. "Finally... why did you save me?"

He shrugged. "Why not? Life is precious. Might as well cherish it." She fiddled with a string of wool coming out if the blanket. He felt awkward under her stare.

Karin nodded slowly and she smiled at him. "Well thank you, I literally owe you my life. My name's Karin, what's yours?"

Tarvo's eyes widened a little. "M-my name is Tarvo," he stuttered. His eyes wondered a little. He felt strange near her.

Karin laughed a little. "What a strange name, kinda like Tarzan." She said. She looked around and then turned to him. "So how long do we have to stay in here?"

His eyes widened. Tarzan? He looked away. "We stay as long as it takes. I can never go home."

Karin looked at him sadly. "I'm sorry..."

"No. It's my fault. My choice. My consequence." He sighed and stood. HE pushed some vines away from a square wooden window. He breathed in the sweet air.

Karin looked down, still feeling guilty. "I'd offer to let you come live with me but even I don't want to go back home..."

"Huh?" He didn't understand. "Why not? You have everything."

Karin scoffed. "Yeah right, parents who are always fighting and telling me I'm worthless if I'm not rich. Not to mention no friends or anyone who would miss me if I did disappear."

His eyes widened. "Surely someone would miss you." There was always someone.

Karin shrugged. "My parents don't care if I'm there or not, I have no friends and no other relatives."

"That's hard to believe," Tarvo mumbled. He shrugged and shook his head.

Karin looked out the window then back at him. "Maybe we can help each other..."

Tarvo scoffed. "I have nowhere to go. Nothing to do. I won't need your help." He sat there and thought for a little while. "But your company would be much appreciated."

Karin looked offended and was about to throw a comeback when he said the last part, her anger diminished and she smiled. "That's what I meant." She laughed.

Tarvo looked up at her. "Why are you laughing?" His face went from surprised to a smile. "Heh."

Karin looked at him. "Because you're so serious about everything, I feel I need to laugh for you."

"Uh?" He felt the heat rise in his face. He was blushing. "I-I'm not always serious!" he blurted out.

Karin laughed. "You're blushing!" She chuckled as she looked at him. "You CAN be cute." She laughed harder.

Tarvo looked away, embarrassed. "What does it mean to be cute?"

"Hm..." She thought for a moment. "It means to be attractive but in an innocent way, like a baby animal." She said smiling.

"Ah." He was glad she had stopped laughing at him. She was good company though.
