Kai was slightly shocked. She didn’t know much about her family. She couldn’t even remember if she had siblings. She thought she did but was never too sure, not after all of this. She looked away, embarrassed by what she had done in the warehouse. “I don’t think you can trust me. Not after what I just did.”

"What do you mean?" He sighed once more as he moved forward, looking out at the dying sun which was shrouded by fog and clouds.

Kai would have preferred not to tell but she guessed she no longer had a choice. “I just killed someone Phillip.”

He raised an eyebrow, "Oh." He muttered, "I guess..." He shaded his eyes with a hand, "I have done so also..."

Kai looked up at him surprised. She didn’t expect that at all. He seemed so fragile yet, strong at the same time. She hadn’t thought him capable of killing though. “When, who and why?” She couldn’t stop that question from falling from her face.

"It's the reason I was deported from Britain... I killed my sister." He was ashamed of the action, and to show it, he covered his face with his hands.

“Why would you kill your sister?” She was curious, a little too curious.

"My sister killed my father on spurred rage about... something... I just..." He moved his hand away from his face, "I just got to angry, y'know?"

Kai knew what he meant. When she got angry she would always ask to be beaten though. Her mother always obliged. She guessed her father did too but she didn’t really remember him. “I understand what you’re saying. I just deal with rage differently to you.”

"I still feel guilty about it... it was years ago anyways." He said.

Kai didn’t know how to make him feel better. She wanted to, but she didn’t know why. She guessed there was a degree of trust.

"That's how I came to this place." He said, "I was locked up in a juvenile detention center."

Kai couldn’t stop laughing. She knew that this was a serious subject but she couldn’t help herself. “Dude,” she said trying to settle herself. “I was in more juvies that you could imagine for hacking. I’m sure to go for murder now.”

Phillip scowled before laughing also, unsure of what to say nor do next. "So..." He muttered, picking up a stone from a floorboard, pegging it through the air.

"So what?" she asked. She wasn't sure what to do or say either. She wanted to sleep but she wasn't sure if she could.

"No idea what to say." He said, smiling slightly before closing his eyes.

Kai didn’t look at him. She really should be sleeping, getting some rest before she chased after some more people. “Is there wifi here?” she asked, hoping beyond hope that there would be.

"Nope." He answered glumly, keeping his eyes closed as the wind howled.

Kai muttered a curse under her breath. She needed wifi to find the people who knew. She needed to catch someone like her mother, someone with high clearance.

"But." He opened one eye, thinking for a second, before continuing, "There is a cafe, up in town which has free wifi."

Kai lifted her head and looked at him, smiling. “Great. When the rain stops, that’s where I’m going.” She stood and walked to one of the windows and watched the rain pour. She shook her head lightly and walked to a corner of the room, huddling into it and shutting her eyes. She needed sleep and now was a good time to get it.

Phillip shrugged slightly before falling into a sleep.

It didn’t take Kai long to fall asleep. She wasn’t sure how long she had slept for but when she woke from her nightmare, it had stopped raining. She held her hand to her head and tried to breathe evenly. She couldn’t even remember what it was about but it had certainly rattled her cages.

Phillip entered the room she was sleeping restfully in after he had woken from his slumber. "Hey." He said, poking her arm.

Kai looked up at him, her eyes showing her distress. “Hey.”
