Gandal opened the door, a soft groan sounding from the floorboards beneath his shaking feet. What he saw made his jaw drop - upturned tables, shredded pieces of paper scattered throughout the room, blood splattered along the ground, floor boards snapped in half. It was horrible. He had to look away as the tears embraced his eyes again - this time they weren't as easy to hold back.

Caitlin examined everything within a few minutes. "Get out."

Gandal looked back at her with slight shock, "What? Why?"

"Just get out," she seethed. "Now."

He rushed out of the house, looking back, making sure she was following.

Caitlin followed after him. She jumped from the porch and onto him, pushing him a few feet forward just before the hose blew up. She covered her head protectively.

Rubble flew through the air, along with parts of the house which were carried by a massive blast. "Holy..." Gandal scrambled to his feet, gasping, totally unsure of what to do.

"It's not done yet," she screamed as more rubble flew from the house. She pulled him back down again. "Stay on the ground you fool."

Gandal fell back to the ground, his head slamming into a clump of dry grass. "What the hell?" He screamed over the roaring of fire.

She covered her head again as more rubble flew towards them.

He began scrambling forward as fire flew from every corner of his vision, igniting the grass around him.

Caitlin grabbed his arm. "What are you doing?"

"Getting the hell back to the car." He moaned, "I don't want to die."

Caitlin chuckled slightly. "It's almost..." Another explosion sounded before she could finish her sentence. She jumped and pushed Gamdal out of the way. She ended up clutching onto him and rolling a few metres. "Done..." she finished.

Gandal scrambled to his feet, looking at the destruction with awe - unsure of what to say or do.

A smouldering piece of timber landed next to Caitlin's face. Her eyes widened. "That was close," she muttered.

"What... What just happened?" He asked, his gaze unmoving.

"It blew up silly," Caitlin said standing and brushing ash from her clothes. "Cover your face before you breathe in too much ash." She covered her face with a strip of cloth from her bag.

Gandal ignored her last words, "How... How did you know that was going to happen?"

Caitlin shrugged. She looked back to the house. "There were too many bloody footprints. They shuffled around in one specific area and there were bloodied finger streaks on two particular floorboards. There was also a slight tick." She sighed and looked away. "I'm sorry."

"Well that sucks, now doesn't it?" He smiled slightly before softly slamming his head into a tree, "There goes our chances of looking for evidence that someone killed her."

"I got all the evidence I need," she said tapping her temple softly. "I have an idedic memory."

Gandal looked back at her, smiling, "You're a smart cookie." He tapped her on the head before strolling away from the insane fire, pulling out his phone.

"Only because of my family genes," she whispered. She looked up at him. "Let's hope something can be salvaged."

He dialed triple zero and opened up a connection to the ambulance. Gandal told them the address of the house before hanging up.
