Gandal cocked his head as a laser exploded a patch of ground near them. They were here. They had arrived.

Kai stood and grasped his shoulder. "Run!"

'Son of a...' He ran with Kai, taking out his rifle, he glanced behind; there they were -- robots but humans at the same time. Gandal looked ahead of him, and bolted.

Kai ket running. Even after her feet felt like they were about to explode.

"How am i a fool, what did i do" said Aragon. He charged up his laser, and looked around.

'Shut up and run.' Gandal gasped, as lasers traced their steps.

Aragon ran backwards, and started firing lasers at the supersoldiers.

'Hurry!' Gandal screamed, his pace gradually slowing.

Kai stopped and turned around to look at the soldiers. They weren't firing at her. Why weren't they firing at her? She grabbed the pistol she concealed in her ankle and shot one of the soldiers. It dropped, dead. The soldiers stopped. It was uncanny that they looked so normal. What was Kenspeckle doing? They stared at her and she stared back.

Gandal turned and fired at least five shots, 'these things... They are human?' He yelled over piercing lasers and gunfire.

"They were. Their not anymore." She cocked her head and they did too. They were mimicking her. Why? There were so many questions that were unanswered and more than likely never would be answered.

Gandal was shocked... These things... They were like cyborgs, they red another laser; a nearby wall rupturing. Gandal turned and ran.

Kai watched Gandal go. She couldn't do much more than that. She didn't know why, but she was rooted to the spot. She looked back to the soldiers. "What do you want from me?" she asked them. They didn't say anything.

Gandal ignored Kai's stubbornness as he heard the muffled yelps of young children as they were evacuated from the city.

She looked at the soldiers, the soldiers looked at her. They didn't shoot. She found herself reaching for her gun. She grasped it and held at shoulder height. She shot the first soldier, then the next, the another. She shot all of them and stared. Why had she done that? She didn't know. She turned and walked toward the city. It was almost like she was under some kind of spell. She holstered the gun as she walked. There were still soldiers out there... looking for her.

Gandal found an abandoned hotel, he entered the structure, moving behind an empty counter. Around him: stools were flipped on the ground amd tables had broken legs.

Aragon walked into a building with Gandal.

Kai walked into the village feeling cold. She wraped her arms around herself, trying to warm up. She looked around at the chaos. There were so many things she should never have seen but it was too late to get rid of them now. She walked into an abandoned home and sat against the door, closing her eyes. A tear fell down her cheek and she hiccuped. It was all too much.

Overheard, Gandal could hear a shuttle zooming past. He shuddered as lasers echoed around the village, mingling with desperate cries for help.

Kai stood and wiped her tears from her eyes. She walked outside an called out. "Gandal! Where are you?"

Gandal could hear a muffled scream... It sounded familiar. Abruptly, he shot to his feet; Kai. He moved out of the hotel, running towards the sound.

"Gandal!" she called again. She didn't know where he was. She needed to see him. She seeked his guidance right now.

Gandal could feel the heat of lasers flying around him as he ran.

"Gandal," she said quietly. She sat on the ground and held her knees to her chest. She buried her head between her knees and sobbed.

Gandal spotted Kai on the ground; a thick fog swirling around her. "Kai!" He yelled, kneeling next to her. He placed a hand on her shoulder, sighing.
