"No. I'm exhausted. I can't sleep. I heaved a heavy body. I'm sore." She began to cry. "Gandal may not make it," she said between sobs.

The swing. Light. Unbearable light. Hands outstretched... Gandal Wess smiled at the setting dawn as another day of training ended. In the distance, the swing he would always use in his childhood swung in the lone breeze which brushed along the lush green grass. He sighed, resting his head against a tree trunk. Then he saw it... The... Thing... Hiding in the tree. A robot?

Gandal awoke.

Kai looked over to Gandal. Through her tears, she saw him open his eyes. "Gandal," she said and hugged him. "Don't do that again. Please." She continued crying on his chest.

Aragon smiled down at him. "What the hell did you think you were doing fool?" he asked, helping him up. "Never do that again" he told him.

His eyes were unmoving, his body stay still. Gandal stared at the ceiling and sighed, 'Sorry.' He finally said.

"It's okay. I'm just glad your safe," she said hugging him a little tighter. She felt better now that she knew he was awake. She had stopped crying at least.

He tapped her back, smiling at last, 'I had a lust for war... I just had to let it break loose.' He shrugged, sitting up in the bed. 'Was I... Kicked in the face?' He rubbed his nose.

Aragon chuckled softly, throwing him a wet cloth. "Yeah, you were" he said. "You're lucky Kai had a vision, or we wouldnt have been ahpe to save you" he said seriously:

"I guess it's useful for something," she said as she broke away from the hug and helped Gandal up. She grabbed the cloth and wiped some of the blood off Gandal's face. "Get me some bandages if we have any Aragon. I don't think wiping it away is going to do much good." Half way through cleaning his face, Kai wiped her eyes so she could see properly. "They did a proper job at hitting you. Just rest until you're better alright. I don't want to see you hurt like this again." She smiled softly. "You may nt care for yourself but I do. That should be more than enough for now."

Aragon passed her a few bandages. "Thats all we have" he told her. He left the room, to go and think.

"Thank you." She continued to tend to Gandal's wounds and bandaged them. "You should get some rest," she said as she gingerly wrapped the bandage on Gandal's wound.

Gandal took her hand, sighing, 'I appreciate this Kai. No one in the army... Is as generous as you.' He smiled at her, 'Thank you.' He repeated.

Kai looked at him and smiled. "I'm not from the army. I'm from IT. Remember? I was only here for my computer skills." She placed a hand on his cheek. "Rest. I'll still be here when you wake." She let go of his hand and turned to leave the room.

He chuckled to himself, 'Well, only a soldier would do what you did for me.' He smiled before laying his head back on the bed.

Kai smiled and laughed a little. "I guess you're right. Rest easy," she said and left the room.

Gandal fell into a fitful sleep. No dreams. No visions. Just sleep.

Kai returned to check on Gandal a couple of hours later. She had a bowl of cool water and a cloth for her to wipe away any sweat he may be admitting. There wasn't much for her to clean. She checked his wound, cleaned it and re-bandaged it. He looked so peaceful when he slept. She sighed and kept working on his wound. She checked his arms and torso for anything she might have missed earlier. Yet again, there was no visible wounds other than the one on his head.

Gandal awoke suddenly, 'What are you doing?' He sat up abruptly, his eyebrows arched.

She blinked calmly. "Double checking for wounds and re-bandaging the one that can be seen," she said calmly. She sighed, then gingerly touched his forehead. "Does it hurt?" Her eyes were gentle.

He winced in pain at the touch, 'Yeah... Kinda.' He pushed away her hand, 'I should be fine for now.' Gandal rose to his feet, headng for the door.

Kai nodded and grabbed a small pill and a glass of water. "Take this. It should ease the pain," she said holding it out to him.

Aragon went to his room. He started thinking about 'Hummingbird' He couldnt make any sense out of it, and gave up.

Gandal sculled the drink and left the room, collecting his pistol which lay on a small table. He headed down to the bottom floor of the hotel, looking out the window once again.

"Sulking isn't going to help. Bottling things up will make it worse," Kai said from the doorway. "What's wrong? What's troubling you so much?"

'Is it fine if I get some fresh air?' He said, his face swiveling to where she stood. Where his nose had been hit, there was a piece of metal, glinting in the sunlight.
