'Piece of paper - maybe.' He had to bite his lip to stop himself from booming the laughter.

"It was not paper. I know a rat when I hear one." She scowled at him in the darkness.

Gandal kept biting his lip as he abrubtly knocked into a wall. He looked up, on his far left was another window, just showing between nailed down pieces of wood.

"Why did you stop?" She looked around in the darkness. She couldn't see him, but her ears were super sensitive.

"Window, protected by planks of wood," He stood a little bit, inspecting how the pieces were nailed in, "They are rusted, we should be able to quietly take them off and get through here." He suggested, starting to touch the barrrier.

"I can't see you. Just hum in a low key for me. I have the best hearing." She began to move around.

Gandal hummed silently?

She walked over to Gandal with confidence. "Okay," she whispered in his ear. "You can stop now."

Gandal returned to his procedure of stealthily removing the planks of wood from the outside of the window.

"Can I help in any way?"

Gandal shook his head, putting a hand to his lips, requesting silence.

"Fine," she whispered and sat on the cold floorboards with her legs crossed, waiting.

He continued stripping the wood from the window, the nails falling to the ground with soft clinks. He smiled once he was done, slightly relieved from his minor achievment. He ushered for Kai to come to her feet as he started sliding the window open. He was replied with eerie creaks and groans as he slid open the glass.

Kai rushed up and helped him so they could be out of the area as soon as they could. She didn't like it in this area.

Once the window was fully open, he quietly sighed with relief mumbling the words 'thankyou.' He put his leg through, his body, his head, his other leg until he finally emerged onto the other side into another cold, gloomy alleyway.

Kai followed with a little more grace than Gandal and sucked in a large amount of air. "This is much better," she said.

"I guess." He mumbled looking around at the dark alleyway, lined with garbage bags and litter. He moved towards and opening in the building, and there... they could see the flashing lights illuminating the streets... surrounding the words, "CASINO." Gandal smiled.

"You love Casino's don't you. You're such a gambler." She walked toward the Casino and stopped after a few steps. She turned. "Coming?"

Gandal nodded, moving through the narrow gap in the buildings until he was in the streets parallel from the casino.

"So what are you going to do? Rest would be good for you."

'Best we find an apartment.' Gandal said.

"Okay. One with two bedrooms. I don't feel like sleeping on a couch."

Gandal chuckled half-heartedly, moving into the light of a street-lamp. "Can you go find one?" He looked at Kai, his head slightly cocked.
