"Why me? I thought you didn't approve of children entering casinos," she said sarcastically.

Gandal scowled, "Now, please." He shook his hand, hiding a smile.

(Did you mean shook his head?)

"Okay. But only because you asked so nicely," she smirked.

He scowled once more, starting to head towards the casino gracefully.

Kai stuck to his side like glue. "There's no need to be grumpy. I'm only a child. Let me have a little fun." She sighed. "You don't understand."

'Now is time to be serious, child.' He made no effort to look over at her, he just kept walking.

"Okay," she said hanging her head. She kept walking also. When they reached the Casino she walked past the boucers and went to the reception desk for an apartment to stay in.

Gandal walked past her as she payed for the apartments, heading for the same elevator he headed up before he was shot that night...

Kai payed for the rooms and followed Gandal. She had managed to scoop a meal for the night for the two of them and a beer for Gandal. She followed him into the elevator and pressed 6. "It's room 72," she said handing him the key.

'Thank you.' He said in a hushed voice, rattling the keys in anticipation to see their new room.

Kai gave a quiet chuckle. She enjoyed seing people happy. The elevator doors iopened and she stepped out and guided Gandal to the door.

"Thanks." He said quietly, drooping his head as they walked towards their room.

"Don't thank me Gandal. I'm just doing what needs to be done."

Gandal nodded, partially lifted his head as popped the key in the lock of the new apartment, once he heard a click he took the key out and gently pushed the door open.

Kai waited for Gandal to say something. Partly because she didn't know what to say, but also because she wanted to hear his input of the room.

"Looks good." Gandal said half-heartedly, dropping the keys on a nearby coffee table.

At least he was satisfied with the room. "Glad you like it," Kai said as she walked through the rooms. "Which room do you want?"

Gandal chose randomly, heading to the left, 'this one.' He called as he traveled down a long hallway.

"Okay then." She said as she walked to the room that she was to sleep in and shut the door. She flopped onto the bed, arms stretched out to their full extent. She shut her eyes momentarily. She was so tired. She opened her eyes and lay on her side, curling her arms around her and shutting her eyes.

Once Gandal was sure Kai wasn't looking he pulled a note from a pocket in his jacket, it revealed where the killers would be. He smiled, visions of him vanquishing the killers that destroyed his family.

Kai fell asleep. She didn't mean to, but she did. She woke a couple of hours later and stumbled to the small kitchen. "Gandal? Where are you?" she said sheepishly.

Gandal called from his room, sliding away a phone he had recently been using, "Here." He called.

Kai walked to the door of his room rubbing the sleep out of her eyes. "What time is it?" she asked.

"You tell me." Gandal said, chuckling to himself, "It's 1:42. Why do you ask?"

"Shoot. Sorry. I fell asleep. I've been out for a few hours."
