Kristina hobbled after him as fast as she could.

They turned a few corners, passing broken down houses and flipped cars, the roads still considerably damp and gushing with water from the intense floods. Heath was looking around intentively, watching out for any sign of life. Their parents, they had to be somewhere. They had to be. They wouldn't leave them here, would they?

Kristina looked around nervously as they continued on.

"Where do you think they are?" Heath muttered, a only a few paces beyond them.

Joseph looked back, totally forgetting about the situation with the parents. He wanted to tell them the worst case scenario. That they were either taken away or killed in the floods and earthquakes. He couldn't imagine his parents fighting against torrents of water and massive splits in the ground. "Maybe we should check out all of our houses, one at a time. If they're not there, I'm not sure if there's much else we can do."

Kristina nodded sadly and kept hobbling.

Heath gave a soft nod, "Do we know who's house is the closest?" He said, looking down at the seemingly endless road.

Joseph looked back at Heath, "Pretty sure mine is the closest, I live pretty near to Alana." He muttered, "59 Christenson Street."

Kristina looked down and nodded softly.

"Okay." Heath said, "Mine's a bit further. Yours first, then Kristina's, then mine, I guess. Mac and I lived together." His voice trailed off as they turned a corner, entering a more untouched part of the city; no unturned cars, no splits in the road. It was a slight relief in the constant destruction.

Kristina looked around as she hobbled along behind Joseph. Feeling a little more creeped out by the perfect stillness in this untouched area than in the destruction.

"I wonder how much the floods and earthquakes have spread. Globally or just locally." Joseph muttered as they turned yet another corner. He had recognized this street whilst walking to school, a few water towers up ahead. His house was a meagre two blocks away. It wouldn't be too long until he reached it.

Kristina was having a hard time keeping up, her arms becoming tired from dragging all her weight.

"You doing alright?" Heath looked toward Kristina who was now seemingly much more tired, her legs dragging along the ground and her should slumped. "We can rest here, if you want."

Kristina shook her head, not wanting to be a burden. "No... I'm fine..."

"Mkay." Heath muttered. After another few minutes, they reached Joseph's house, slightly lopsided to the right from the earthquakes and considerably damp. The downfall of getting a house which is in the centre of town, where most of the houses are in a massive 'ditch' of sorts.

Joseph looked at it for a minute or so, standing out front. Things had changed so much since things had first started, since the rain came down, since the earthquakes split the town apart, since the floods, since the creatures. He sighed as he stepped forward, "Come on." He said in a hushed tone as he stepped onto the porch, subtly opening the front door to reveal furnitures flipped to the side, carpets torn and floorboards in the stage of splitting.

Kristina looked at him sadly and hobbled after him.

Things had changed, a lot, he thought as he stepped past the threshold, his feet crunching over multiple shards of glass. "Mum? Dad?" He called out as he peered through the darkness, searching for any sign of movement.

Kristina followed after him.

No voices came in return, no even a scutter of feet or a single sound, except for the creaking of his own feet on the decayed wood below. "Mum... Are you there? Dad?" His voice became more loud, more desperate, only to find Heath's hand on his shoulder, telling him to stay quiet.

Kristina looked around cautiously.

Joseph advanced into the hall which seemed to be less decayed and broken. He noticed two doors open; one leading to an empty bathroom, the toilet cracked and split and a bathtub still full with water, and the other door leading to his parent's bedroom. After checking the bathroom, he slipped through the other room, only to find the ripped apart corpse he had called Dad.

Abruptly, he was knocked back in fear, passing back through the threshold of the door, his eyes fixated on the ripped apart body, the only thing clear was the memorable face. Choking on his tears, he reeled back, slamming his shoulder into the wall accidentally and running outside.

Kristina's eyes widened as she saw him dash out of the house and she went to look at what he'd seen, she immediately choked on tears.

Heath stepped back, not even looking, but knowing what was there. "We better look around the rest of the house. Just in case." He said in a hushed tone, placing a gentle hand on Kristina's shoulder and moving back down the hallway.

Kristina nodded and followed him, her heart broken, she'd known Joseph's parent's well.

"Did Joseph have a mother?" He said in a voice low enough, Joseph wouldn't be able to hear. Heath moved into another room, filled with turned over desks and pulled apart seats; it seemed to be an office of sorts.

Kristina nodded. "Yes... She was very nice..."
