Joseph waited there with Heath for an hour or so, simply staring out as the sun rose over the buildings, finally splaying satisfactory rays of light. They then began to head back up the staircase and it wasn’t long before they reached the room again, finding Kristina still in her position and the room slightly more humid than it was before.

Kristina looked up at them and gave a small smile.

Joseph looked toward Kristina, giving a half-hearted smile as he approached her, sitting parallel from her. “Hey.” He said as he rest his back along the grime infested wall, exhaling as he did so. “Heard anything from up here?” He said in a mutter, looking toward Heath with concern as he stood at the doorway, seeming to be staring at one of the barricaded windows.

Kristina shook her head. "Nothing thankfully."

"Alright, cool." Joseph said, "We're going to need to get out of the city, it's not safe and we need to find out where these, erm... squids are coming from." He said as he glanced at the bag of guns which was running low on weapons, but was stockpiled with ammunition and could last at least a year, depending on how much ammo was used and what kind of dangers they could face.

"We have three choices, to stay here until officials take control, border this up and try and take control of this part of town, move to a different part of town or we could go to the country or something much more safe." He said, his words slow as he explained their three possible plans, something he was thinking about whilst he was standing next to Heath in the lobby.

Kristina looked down as she thought. "I don't know... what would be the best way to find our parents?"

Joseph stammered for a second, until Heath interrupted, "If we decide to move ourself from this place, I guess we can look for them as we go." It was the first time he had formed an appropriate sentence since Mac had passed away, which was a good sign.

Kristina nodded softly. "Ok... let's do that..."

Joseph gave a nod in agreement, "I'll see if I can find anything in the lobby, you guys collect our bags of supplies and I'll meet you back up here." He said with slight haste, coming back to his feet and walking back out the door. "If you hear anything, give a shout." He said as he passed the threshold.

Kristina nodded and dragged herself over to their bags and began packing.

Joseph reached the lobby slowly, looking around at the debris momentarily, seeming hesitant, before moving behind the wreckage which was formerly a counter, rummaging through the wood.

Kristina finished packing and looked up at Mac.

Heath picked up some supplies, reefing the wood from the windows and putting them in a bag, hoping that they may come into use when they got out of the city. "Got everything?" He said with a moan, the pain still in this leg, yet slowly subsiding.

Kristina nodded. "Yeah."

"Did Joseph say he'd meet us back up here, or we'd meet him down there?" Heath said awkwardly, placing a bag of supplies at the door before moving over to the nearest window, looking toward the fog filled streets, abandoned by any sign of life.

Kristina looked at him. "He said he'd meet us here."

"Hm." He muttered as heard the creaking of the steps until Joseph finally came around the staircase, holding some clips of ammo, the shaft of a gun and some burnt nails which could come in use if they were constructing a tent or some kind of shelter. "Hi." He said in a mutter, placing the supplies in the nearest bag.

Kristina looked at him sadly. "Hey..."

"You guys ready to get going?" Joseph said as he examined the bags by his feet, stockpiled with food, ammo and other things which would suffice greatly for their trip.

Heath grunted, as if saying yes as he picked up two bags, slinging them onto his shoulders, before picking up another two and gripping them tightly. "It'd be best to get out now whilst we have the light, it seems the creatures are more aroused and active at night."

Kristina nodded and grabbed her crutches, hobbling to her feet. She grabbed one of the lighter bags and slung it over her shoulder before beginning to drag herself to the door.

Joseph helped her down the stairs, holding a few bags in his free hand as Heath led the group down the staircase. They wordlessly reached the lobby after a minute or so, Joseph's feet crunching the ash which had spread throughout the ground, amidst the rubble and broken down pieces of wood.

Kristina tried not to take a nervous deep breath, as the air was filled with dust and ash.

Heath left a hand on her shoulder as they walked through the small amount of destruction and rubble whic had littlered the foyer. "How's your leg feeling?" He said as he helped her over one of the beams which had fallen down from the explosion.

Kristina shook her head as she dragged herself along. "I still can't feel them."

Joseph stepped past the broken threshold first, making contact with the crisp air which was surprisingly untouched by the infesting smell of smoke. "Seems like there's none of those squids up ahead. We should get moving fast." He muttered as he began walking forward, at least five metres in front of the other two.
