"No." Joseph said, shaking his head as he turned, placing one leg below the ledge and onto a ladder which was on the elevator shaft, something he hadn't noticed before.

Kristina looked up at him, tears in her eyes.

Joseph slowly moved down the ladder, wrapping one hand tightly around Kristina's waist as he moved her hands around the ladder. "Are you able to climb?" He muttered.

"With my arms if I try..." She muttered back.

"Alright." Joseph slowly let go of her, making sure her hands were on tight before continuing to hastily move down the ladder, his hands just gripping on the wet metal.

Kristina was slow and careful whereas she was dangling by just her hands.

Joseph finally reached the bottom, helping Kristina do so as he looked around the hallway they had entered, then to the hospital entrance. He waded toward the inch deep water toward the door, keeping his eyes focused on what lay ahead.

Kristina had to cling to Joseph's shoulders as she was dragged.

Joseph came to the door, noticing it had been completely abolished by the water, the glass around it shattered and destroyed, floating through the extremely shallow water. He pushed Kristina up onto his shoulder, making sure her head didn't hit the roof and she was low enough so they could go through the door with ease.

Kristina held onto him.

Joseph moved into the streets, being greeted with a chilled air as he did so, wrapping his arms around his body. "These streets were badly beaten up by the water flow..." He muttered, looking around at the water which gushed down gutters and the junk which was left in the street.

Kristina nodded. "Yeah..." She said as she looked around at the devastation.

"Alright." Joseph said, placing both hands on his hips as he surveyed the streets, "We can either look for survivors, or we can see what's beyond this city."

Kristina looked down. "I want to find my dad..."

Joseph ignored her, stepping forward, "I guess we'll try to see what's beyond this city." He advanced forward, half expecting her to follow.

Kristina dropped from hanging onto is shoulders, laying in a heap on the ground. "No. I'm not leaving till I know for certain my dad isn't here."

Joseph sighed, turning around as he came onto his knees, "Kristina, you know he's gone. Everyone was taken away when we evacuated." He looked away, at the nearest street he had been proceeding toward, "If he was here, what are the chances he has survived?"

Kristina looked at him, tears streaming down her cheeks. "We survived..."

"We just survived. We survived an earthquake, soldiers, a flood and dozens of deformed squid. Now," Joseph inhaled loudly, "Let me ask again, do you think your father survived?

Kristina looked down, tears in her eyes. "He had to... He wouldn't leave me..."

"You saw the guards back near our houses, they forced people to evacuate." He shook his head, pushing the tears back which beckoned to fall down his cheek.

Kristina didn't look at him. "I'm not leaving until I know he's not here..."

Joseph stood up, shaking his head, "What if he isn't? What if this is just a waste of time?"

Kristina continued to look away, tears falling down her cheeks. "I don't care..."

Joseph walked away, "Have fun looking for your Dad." He said in a glum tone, shoving both hands in his jacket pockets.
