Kristina stared after him, her eyes wide and devastated as more tears fell from her eyes. She didn't want him to leave her, she didn't want to be left alone here when she couldn't even walk. But she needed to find her father. "Thanks... for everything..." She said in a teary voice.

Joseph turned slightly, as he saw a tendril lash out from the hospital, followed by the head of a colossal squid creature, breaking through the hospital threshold. It roared with delight as it captured Kristina, pulling her through the hospital and into the darkness.

Kristina's eyes widened and she screamed with pure terror as she was grabbed by the tendril and pulled away. "JOSEPH!!!" She screamed as she was pulled into the darkness.

Joseph moved back into the hospital, stumbling as he lost footing on a rock, his head slamming into the ground, his hands grazing along the concrete. "Alana! No!" He roared, pushing himself up with the determination which pulsed throughout him.

Kristina's screams could be heard coming from the center of the building.

Joseph ran through the building, picking up a rather large pole as he did so, wincing in pain as the metal touched his skin grazes. "Come out! Wherever you are!" He roared, moving through the damp darkness.

Just then a tentacle lashed out, sending him flying.

As Joseph flew through the air, he grabbed at one of the tentacle's suction pipes, crawling up the slimy shaft. He groaned as pain jolted throughout his body, the tendril slapping at the ground.

The thing was holding Kirstina in one tentacle as it tried to shake Joseph out of his tentacle.

Joseph then flung himself from the suction cup onto the parallel tendril, the surface impossibly slimy and wet. He then began to crawl along the tentacle, toward the head of the monster.

The monster screeched and flung a tentacle down on him, like swatting a fly.

Joseph sprung forward, but not fast enough as if pushed him to the ground, pushing him back to square one with rescuing Kristina. He let out an exasperated sigh as the roar of a vehicle emanated from behind him, a horn blaring as it roared down the large hallway.

Kristina's eyes widened and she screamed. "JOSEPH! MOVE!"

Joseph looked back, the lights of a rather large vehicle screaming at him, placing him in shock as he just sat there for a few seconds. He finally rolled to the left, his arm cracking into the corridor wall, pain jostling through him as a car sped past. From his glimpse, he assumed it was a hummer, equipped with weapons and equipped with armor which deemed it somewhat hardy and suitable for off-road driving.

The car sped forward, the driver slamming his foot down as it slammed into the monster, flipping it sideways as it screeched, the sound echoing throughout the darkness.

Kristina screamed as the monster released her and she was sent flying over to the hummer.

Two men stepped from the car, leaving it on as they fired profusely at the monster until it dropped dead, green blood splattering from it's massive body. The men, concealed in the shadows rushed over to Kristina which was on the bonnet of the Hummer. "You alright?" One of them said in a gruff voice.

Kristina groaned and slowly pushed herself up on her hands. "I'll live..." She said and looked at the two men. "Thank you... Thank you so much..." She said tearing up a little.

The other man looked over to where Joseph had crumpled into the wall, pointing toward the space, "There's a boy over there. Bring him back to the car." The man gave a nod of affirmation, moving through the darkness until he found Joseph's limp body, his hands bleeding and his face scratched severely.

"What are you doing here?" The remaining man asked, running a hand through his thick, blondish brown beard before wiping away perspiration from his forehead.

Kristina looked away. "We were stranded here after the disasters. We've been fighting those..." She pointed at the beast. "Things, since we entered the hospital. I wanted to look for my dad but... Joseph didn't... and he was just about to leave when that thing grabbed me..."

The man shook his head slowly as the other came back with a limp Joseph in his hands, placing him in the back of the Hummer. "We have camp a few blocks down from here. Did you want to join us?" He asked, "It's currently just myself and my brother."

Kristina nodded. "Yes please." She said, not moving from the front of the hummer, since she couldn't.

The man gave a half smile, picking her up as he put her next to Joseph's limp frame, "My name's Heath." The one with the blondish brown bearded man said, slipping next to his other accomplice in the front of the hummer.

The other man spoke up, reloading his gun as he did so, "I'm... Mac." He said, pushing up his broken glasses which were on the bridge of his nose.

Kristina nodded to them both. "Nice to meet you, really nice. I'm Kristina, and as I said, this is Joseph."

Heath gave a smile as he reversed the car through the wreckage the monster had caused, moving back onto the streets which still carried centimeters of water. "How have you guys managed to survive?" He asked, taking off a blue cap which was atop his head, revealing short, blonde hair.

Kristina thought for a moment. "Mainly just taking shelter and running from monsters. I lost my ability to walk along the way..." She said looking down at her beaten legs.
