Kristina coughed up a lung full of water and gasped for air as she was brought up and she clung to Joseph as he carried her. "I-I'm sorry..." She said quietly.

"Sorry," He gasped as water gushed into his mouth, spitting it back out before continuing, "What are you sorry for?" Joseph waded up to a door which had an 'exit' sign atop it. He rammed at the doors, yet nothing happened - they seemed to be locked on the other side or something was blocking it.

"I'm being a burden, I can't even walk... I'm sorry I can't do anything..." She coughed again as water went up her nose.

"No. No. It's fine." He said as he moved away from the door, "We just need to get out of here." He muttered, obviously sidetracked as he pushed through the water, making sure his mouth was nowhere near the murk.

Kristina wasn't so lucky and she was constantly spitting out disgusting water.

"Keep out of the water - you don't know what it's passed through." He muttered as he waded toward a different door, slamming it open with sudden haste. Joseph was then pushed into a wrecked hospital room, pieces of wood floating through the room.

Kristina nodded and held her breath any time the water neared her mouth.

Joseph noticed a man hole which was on the ceiling of the room. "If I put you on my shoulder, will you be able to reach-" He pointed at the gaping man hole which revealed seemingly endless darkness, "-that?"

Kristina's eyes widened nervously but she nodded softly. "I should..." She looked at him worriedly. "But what about you?"

He looked around to see one of the hospital beds floating through the water, "I know what I'll do." Joseph said as he grabbed her legs, before placing them on his shoulders slowly, moving his hands up to her ankles to provide support. Joseph then waded toward the manhole until him and Kristina were directly under it.

Kristina cringed as weight was put on her broken legs but she quickly grabbed the sides of the manhole and lifted herself up.

"Okay." Once she was up the dark space, he moved over to the floating hospital bed, placing it directly under the manhole before clambering onto it. "Coming n-" He suddenly slipped off it, something grappling around his leg and instantly pulling him under. Joseph went under water, swallowing a large amount of the water as he begged to go back to the surface, trying to swim upward - yet, something kept him down.

Joseph looked down at his leg, his eyes widening with surprise as he began to struggle at the creature which held onto his leg. The... creature... reminded him of an octopus of sorts, mixed with the zombies you'd see in the movies. He brought his leg up, before kicking it into the monster, feeling the grip on his leg weaken. With one last kick, the tendril was released from his flesh and he swam upward, instantly spitting out the brown water, gagging at the horrid taste before moving onto the hospital bed. With no second glances nor any kind of hesitation, he clambered into the manhole.

"JOSEPH!" Kristina gasped as he went under and didn't come up for a bit, she helped him up into the manhole when he made it and looked at him worriedly. "What happened?"

He shook his head, gagging one more time before pushing himself through something which felt like a vent, "We need to go."

Kristina watched him worriedly but followed him.

Suddenly, the metal which they were crawling through began to shake, water beginning to fall through cracks in the ventilation pipes. "Hurry up!" He shouted as he began to move swiftly through the pitch black space, blinking away drops of water.

Kristina crawled as fast as she could on her broken legs.

They finally reached a steel grill in the ventilation system, spilling in rays of light. It was weakly placed on with a few rusty nails which Joseph unscrewed with his fingers, before sliding away the grill, opening up the manhole. "Through here." He said, looking down at the water which was gushing through the room below. With one deep gulp of air, he jumped downward, through the hole.

Kristina watched and she slowly lowered herself.

Joseph instantly went underwater, moving himself up instantly and surfacing through the gloom. "Looks like we're on the other side of the door." He looked back at the door he had been trying to get through earlier, locked with numerous chains.

Kristina nodded as she dropped into the water.

"If... If you see anything, just shout out." He muttered as he waded through the water, continuing down a hallway which was merely illuminated by the cracks in the wall, "We need to get to the roof of this building."

Kristina had to drag herself by her arms.

Joseph then looked back at Kristina, noticing how beaten up she looked and how damaged her legs had been, "I'm sorry." He said, his eyes drooping as guilt flushed through him. He moved back to her limp body, cupping her into his drenched hands before wading rather hastily down the dimly lit space.

Kristina shook her head. "It's fine..."
