Joseph moaned as he came back, his eyes flickering as he stared at the two men at the front of the car, "What... happened?" He moaned, placing a sweaty hand on his forehead.

Kristina looked over at him. "These two men saved us from the monster." She said with a smile.

Joseph nodded, not fully understanding what she meant, but nodded nevertheless, groaning as he did so. "How'd you get rid of the monster?" He asked in a tired tone of voice, running a hand through his hair with nonchalance.

Heath looked back, adjusting the a mirror which dangled from the roof behind him, "Slammed into the piece of dirt until it was dead." He gave chuckle, slapping his ripped jeans, "The blades at the front of this car ran straight through it's eyes." He said, his brother giving him a glare.

Kristina nodded.

Mac shuffled in his seat uncomfortably as they came to a desolate hotel, dripping with water and splattered with blood, the mangled body of one of the squids resting at the front wall. "Welcome." Heath said with a grin, moving out of his car, followed by Mac who helped Joseph out of the car, picking up Alana in both of his hands. "This is the only safe place in this flash flooding, the top floors are good for avoiding the floods."

Mac gave a nod in affirmation, entering the hotel slowly, allowing his brother to do so first.

Kristina looked around. "How did you guys survive this long?" She asked.

"We were staying at the hotel whilst this passed down. We hid from the soldiers, we couldn't leave... not yet." Heath said, helping Joseph through the door as he sat behind one of the hotel counters.

"Why's that?" She asked.

Mac butted in, nudging his brother on the shoulder as he placed Kristina down on one of the torn red chairs. "We're looking for our Father. We think he's out there." He said, exhaling noisily, watching Heath nod in agreement.

Kristina's eyes widened. "I want to look for my father too!" She said and glanced over at Joseph, remembering the fight they'd had just before the monster attacked and how he was about to leave her.

Joseph looked away as he began to hobble down the hallway, "I'm going to look for somewhere to rest." He said with a moan, turning a corner before going up an elongated staircase.

Heath and Mac both dismissed his departure, both looking at Kristina with broad smiles. "Hopefully we can both find our Dad, eh?" Heath said, joyfully giving her a pat on the back.

Kristina smiled and nodded. "Yes, thanks." She said looking after Joseph worriedly.

"We should be getting you some rest too." Heath said, coming to a standing position as he gently picked her up, bringing her through the dimly lit hallway, leaving Mac behind at the hotel counter.

Kristina nodded and looked up at Heath. "Since you guys are looking for your dad you must not be as old as you look with those beards, how old are you?"

Heath smiled joyously, bringing her to an unoccupied bedroom which slightly damp, but would suffice for rest. "Mac and I are actually twins. Both 36."

Kristina giggled softly. "Yeah, I figured about the twins part." She looked up at him from where she lay on the bed. "Thank you... really... I can't be more grateful..."

"No problem at all." He smiled softly, looking into her eyes for a few seconds, You remind me of my daughter, you know that?" Heath seated himself on the end of the bed, giving out a sigh.

Kristina looked at him, her eyes concerned. "Where is she...?"

Heath looked away, pulling in the tears that threatened to fall from the thresholds of his eyes. He gave a shake of the head, but continued nevertheless, "When it all started and the warnings were on the news... I went to pick up my baby from school. I'd only recently dropped her off..." Heath hesitated, clenching both of his fists. "I was looking straight at her through the glass window... right at her... she looked back at me, glee in her face to see I was there before a massive split opened in the ground... and she just..." A tear silently rolled down his face and he brought his hands to the bed, before standing up.

Kristina looked at him sadly and placed her hand on his when he placed them on the bed, then looked at him as he stood up. "I'm sorry... I shouldn't have asked..."

"Sleep well." He said, instantly moving out of the room, going back down to where Mac was.

Kristina stared after him sadly. "How could I...?" She whispered to herself and looked at the ceiling.

Joseph awoke after a few hours, a feeling of grogginess instantly sweeping over him. With a moan, he tossed out of his bed, shuffling down the elongated staircase before reaching the first floor. "Hello?"

Kristina had finally fallen asleep.

Mac came from behind the counter, looking at him through his large, black glasses, "Yo." He said in a cracked forward, looming over Joseph, "Can I help you?"

Joseph, instinctively feeling somewhat nervous, took a step back, "Where... where is Kristina's room?" With a scowl, Mac issued for him to follow as they went back up the staircase.
