He put one behind Kristina and another next to that, before coming to the ground and lying his head on the one next to hers. "We'll talk more in the morning, okay?"

Kristina nodded and laid down, rolling over so she was snuggled into his side. "Night daddy..."

"Night Kristina." He said with a smile, happy to have been finally reunited with his daughter. Within a matter of minutes, he fell a sleep, one that was somewhat peaceful, until the ground began to shake once again.

Kristina woke instantly and looked around panicked, she tried to sit up and shook her dad. "Daddy, wake up, it's an earth quake."

Troy awoke as she tugged on his arm, moving over to look at her, "Hm?" he muttered, not hearing her the first time.

The ground shook more and she looked around fearfully. "Earthquake!"

Troy suddenly snapped awake, quickly coming to his feet as the ground began to split, the man gripping onto his daughter protectively. The roar of the ground splitting was deafening, the furniture still intact from the last round of earthquakes rattling violently.

Kristina who had been lifted up by her father held onto him tightly, looking around fearfully.

The yells of Joseph and Heath came from the hallway where they had been sleeping as the house began to rupture apart, a massive crack forming just before Troy's feet. He scurried into the bathroom which had been right behind him, placing Kristina softly on the ground.

Kristina looked up at her father fearfully. "Daddy...? What about Keith and Joseph?"

Troy looked at her, eyes wide with fear, "I don't know if we can do anything right now," He was interrupted by a deafening roar as the earthquake came to a cease, the ground split at least five metres apart, dust billowing through the air beyond the bathrrom door.

Kristina looked at the door fearfully as she heard the earthquake stop.

Troy eyed Kristina, then the door, hearing the distant yells of two people. "Come on." He said, as he returned to his feet and tugged on the door, only to find it was jammed shut. He cursed under his breath, "Some of the furniture must have fallen on the other side of the door - we're stuck."

Kristina's eyes widened fearfully. "So... we can't get out?"

"For now... I guess so." He sighed as he slumped back to the ground, the sounds of shouting eventually ceasing as the minutes dragged by. "The earthquake must've entirely split the house in half and put a few metre gap between us, Chase and Heath."

Kristina looked very fearful.

"It'll most probably take them awhile to get to-" He began to say as the roof was suddenly ripped off the bathroom they were both sitting in, held by a thick, sliming tentacle, attatched to a massive squid.

Kristina's eyes widened and she screamed.

Troy grew speechless as he looked up at the monster as it dropped the small chunk of roof, it's massive, yellow eyes looking down at the two humans. It then opened it's mouth and let out an ear piercing wail - it was summoning it's friends.

Troy then came to his senses and picked up a chunk of wood which had fallen next to his feet, throwing it up to the beast's eye. It reeled back in pain, one of its tentacles smashing into the door, bursting it open with an explosion of splinters.

Kristina flinched away fearfully when the door exploded.

"Come on!" Troy exclaimed as he carefully picked Kristina up, beginning to run out of the room as the beast finally recovered from it's wound, stomping after them with rage.

Kristina held onto her dad tightly as she watched the beast in horror.

Troy noticed she was looking back, "Don't look at it, just look ahead," He muttered, clearly exasperated. They were running through the room where they had slept, which was completely filled with dust and toppled furniture, the other side of the room ten metres away, split apart by an endless crack in the ground. "What are those things?" He said as he exited their half of the house, the front door missing from its hinges.

Kristina looked back, burying her face in her dad's shoulder. "I don't know..." She said, trembling in fear.

Troy began running down the street, sweat beginning to rapidly accumulate on his forehead as he turned a corner, hastily entering a house which looked the most stable. They had entered a small jewelry shop, which looked to have been completely ranksacked - nearly every shelf empty. Troy moved over to a part of the room which was encapsulated in gloom, soflty placing Kristina down just as the squid stomped down the street.
