Alana looked up at him and nodded. "Sure."

"Why are you locked into that room?" He asked, hoping he wasn't asking a question which would trigger a negative emotion in her.

Alana's face remained emotionless. "Because I'm not trusted to go out alone where I can harm or kill myself."

"Okay, sorry." Chase muttered as the machine pinged, pouring a brown liquid into the mugs. Once they were filled with the rich liquid, he moved the tea bags out of them and slid them across the bench. "Here." He said, bringing one of them over to where Alana was standing.

"It's fine." Alana said and took the mug when it was offered to her and drank it slowly.

"Why aren't you trusted?" He finally asked, taking a sip through the mug slowly, looking away from her as he did so.

Alana shrugged. "Because I've tried to kill myself many times."

"Well, yes." He nodded, wrapping his fingers around the white cup, letting the warmth flow throughout his hands, "But, why - why do you harm yourself?"

Alana looked at him, her eyes dull and empty. "Because I am done with this world. They are gone so I have nothing left to live for."

Chase opened his mouth to speak, before being interrupted by Victor and James which strode into the kitchen. James looked over at Alana, giving a smile, "This is the girl, hm?" He asked, his voice rasp and somewhat mysterious. He chuckled half-heartily, moving toward the front door, before looking back at Victor, "I'll be back in a few hours." With a nod, he left the building without another word, closing the door behind him.

Alana didn't seem phased by any of it. She just looked back out the window, sipping her coffee.

"Why was he here?" Chase asked, taking another swig from the mug, before moving over to the scientist.

Victor cleared his throat, looking back at Chase, "He came to check on our progress... except..." He paused, running a hand through his beard.

Alana continued to look out the window, not very interested.

"Hm?" Chase asked, implying he should continue with whatever it was he was trying to say.

"He doesn't seem to like our idea with the new cure for defective clones, he also wants us to stop treating defective clones." He sighed, moving his hand through his hair, before placing them on the kitchen bench. "Hey, did you want some toast with that, Alana?" He asked, attempting to dismiss the peculiar topic.

Alana shook her head. "No thank you." She said simply, her mind drifting off.

"Hm, okay." He asked, dismissing the loaf of bread with a soft push, moving himself away from the crammed bench.

"Do you know why he doesn't like the idea?" Chase interrupted, taking one last sip of the coffee before pouring the rest down the sink, watching the brownish colored liquid swirl before falling down the hole in the basin.

Victor Clarence gave a shrug, placing his back against a nearby wall, "When I asked, he said he had some important meeting to go to... something like that."

Alana looked out the window. "He could be the cause." She said softly, as if to herself.

"Huh?" Chase turned his head, "Cause of what?"

Victor looked at Alana curiously, adjusting his glasses once again as he seated himself on the bench top.

Alana shrugged. "Anyone who doesn't want the clones cured is suspicious. He could be the cause of them, or part of a group who created them."

Victor shook his head, giving a chuckle, "He employed me to make these cures, why would he do that?"

Alana shrugged. "So she could keep an eye on you and assure his cover."

Chase moved a hand through the air, hoping to dismay the topic, "I should be getting home, it's awfully late and dinner's most probably ready." Gave a smile before pulling off the labcoat, "Thanks for visiting, Alana." He said as he moved out of the laboratory, closing the door after him.

Alana nodded.

Victor smiled, looking away from the door and back to Alana, "If you wanted, I could walk you home?" He said, giving a slight shrug, "I'm going to go out to the shops in a bit."

Alana shrugged. "Ok." She said.
