"That's what I thought." He said, softly brushing past her and sitting back at the couch, slowly sipping at the clear liquid as he watched the sun rise through an open window.

Alana was fighting back tears as she looked out the opposite window at the still dark sky.

Finishing his drink, Victor cleared his throat before looking back at Alana, "I need to go out for some supplies later. Can I trust you to look after Chase whilsst he sleeps?"

Alana only nodded silently, not looking at him.

"Thank you." He said as he glanced over at Chase before mvoing over to the door, resting his back against the sturdy frame.

Alana sat down against the wall.

"May as well go now." He said, looking out a crack in the door whichhad been formed throughout decay. "Police will raid this part of the city in a few hours, I assume." Victor looked at both Alana andChase with concern, before walking out the door.

Alana just watched him go.

Victor looked at her with concern, making sure the door was locked on the outside before moving down the road, leaving both Alana and Chase behind in the darkness of the structure.

Alana stayed still and silent until Chase woke up.

Half an hour after Victor's departure, Chase finally woke, rubbing his eyes with exhertion before sitting up in the couch. "Hey." He said in a tired tone, looking over at Alana's skinny frame. "Where's Victor?"

Alana looked at him slowly. "He said something about supplies..."

Chase nodded nonchalantly, flopping back onto the comfort of the couch, head planting into the creamy white colored pillow. "Did he say when he'd be back?"

Alana shrugged, indicating that she didn't know and looked out the window.

Chase sighed as he turned around, trying to find a comfortable position in the couch before he let his eyes close once again, hoping that sleep would return to him. As he was just about to drift off to a sleep, a deafening bang drifted throughout the air, sending shrill screams through the air. Chase abruptly stood erect and scurried over to the grimy window, trying to see past the barrier of grime.

Alana looked up.

"What the hell is going on." He exclaimed, not bothering to keep his voice low as he glimpsed smoke rising beyond skyscrapers, the edge of flames just flicking before being obscured by large structures. "I'm not sure, but I think a bomb went off." He moved away from the window and turned back to Alana, concern moving through his body.

Alana looked up at him. "Should we run?"

"But... Victor. He's out there." He muttered, claming a hand over one of his eyes and sighting loudly, "We have no idea what's going on out there." Chase said, lowering his head a little.

Alana looked at him and shrugged. "So we'll stay here."

"That's the best choice right now." He said, giving a shudder as more screams echoed throughout the air.

Alana covered her ears and looked at the ground, her face empty.

Chase relentlsessly flopped over the couch, groaning as he accidently smacked his head onto the arms of the seat. "Ugh." He said as he rolled over and looked up at Alana, before closing his eyes.

Alana trembled slightly as she continued to cover her ears against the noise.

"What do you thinks happening?" Chase said after a few minutes of waiting, opening his eyes back up with a yawn.
