Alana looked at him curiously and nodded. She looked around, pinpointing the source of the sound and there was a scream, a pop, and a splatter.

Martin blinked, "What did you just do?" He cautiously moved toward where the sound was and saw the imploded body of a man. A shudder ran up his spine as he fell against a tree, gagging.

Alana followed him and smiled proudly, looking over all the pretty blood splatter and guts.

He leant over the body, before recoiling, gagging once again before spewing over the floor, 'This could of been an innocent human, Alana." Martin said before turning around to her, wiping the regurgitated waste from his lips.

Alana looked at him curiously, not understanding.

He then looked back at the body, "Or he could have been a spy..." He shrugged it off, "Let's keep going." Martin said, continuing through the forest.

Alana smiled and skipped along, humming happily as she went.

The sun began to mingle with the darkness of the sky, illuminative rays streaking through the black. The stars began to disappear, only the stubborn ones staying to twinkle whilst the warmth spread through the ruins and overgrowth.

Alana continued to walk for a while but then they came across a small clearing of grass and flowers and Alana immediately dropped down and basked in the morning sun.

Martin paused, covering his eyes from the streaks of sunlight which blared through the canopy the trees created. He looked down at her, allowing a smile to don his tiresome face as he lay next to her, staring up at the canopy.

Alana smiled brightly and rolled onto her side and curled into him, humming a soft lullaby.

Martin pressed his head onto her shoulder, instantly forgetting of her DNA deformity and the world around him. "Do you think we'll make it?" He asked, looking over at her dirty face, smiling slightly, "Do you think we'll save Arland?"

Alana looked at him curiously for a moment then smiled big and nodded.

"Good." He said as the sun finally fully shone through the overgrowth and he came to his feet, brushing off dirt from his back. "I'll try and find some food we can eat before we go any further, we're going to need it." Martin said as he ran his hands along the trunks of trees, looking for the bush Arland and him would use for berries and the tree they would use for this strange fruit they would eat before sleep.

Alana watched him, smiling and she climbed to her feet, and jumped onto his back giggling.

Martin stumbled forward, yet held the tree trunk in front of him for balance, pushing himself back onto his feet. "Or you could come with me." He chuckled as he began to move through the dense overgrowth, keeping his knees high to make sure he stayed out of the weeds and such.

Alana giggled and clung to his back like a koala to a tree trunk.

Martin stopped at a tree which leaned over most, containing yellowish-orange fruits which hung from nearly every branch. "See there?" He asked, picking one from the tree, before twisting it, and breaking it enough, "Mango." Martin said as he began devouring the fruit inside.

Alana looked at the fruit curiously from over his shoulder.

He put his hand in the air, holding the other half of the fruit, "Try it." Martin said, "It's nice." He dismissed the other half with the flick of the hand, letting it plonk on the forest floor next to him. "Don't eat the skin, though. Just the fruit inside."

Alana nodded and took a bite out of the center.

He smiled, grabbing another one of the fruits from the tree, ripping it in half. "Do you like it?" He asked, licking his lips before eating one half of the fruit.

Alana nodded, finishing it off.

"Well, we better be off to the city now." He said, dismissing the two bare skins, placing them on the ground.

Alana looked at him curiously, picking up a skin she examined it for a minute.
