Ember finished her food, sad her plate was empty. She looked at Mary-Beth, curious about what she knew. "What kind of caster are you?"
Mary-Beth sat down at the table with Ruby and Ember, eating her food much like a bird. "I am a light and predictor castor." She smiled. "And before you ask, light spells manipulate light and predictor spells allow for the person to see certain things in the future depending on the spell they cast." She smiled across at Ruby.
Ember looked at Mary-Beth with large eyes, being a predictor caster required much concentration. Ember had yet to meet one. Her dislike for Mary-Beth lessened and was replaces a little by awe.

Ruby smiled back warmly, "that's cool" she said "infact its amazing"

Mary-Beth laughed lightly, "Oh it's nothing." She said, finished eating her small potion. She took the other plates and put them in the sink and began to run some water. "I'm sure you are all tired after all that has happened. I'll show you a room to stay in. I'm sorry, but you two will have to share one because it is a small house."
Ember nodded, not really caring. After eating so much, she was ready to sleep.

"I don't mind sharing with anybody" Ruby smiled kindly, this place felt very much like what someone would call a home.

Mary-Beth lead the to a tiny room with one bed. "I can give you blankets it you need them for someone to sleep on the floor."
Ember shook her head. "We'll be fine."
Mary-Beth nodded. "Okay, I'll be about if you need me." She closed the door behind her, going back to the dishes.
Ember sat on the bed, stretching her tight muscles.

"I can sleep on the floor" Ruby smiled sitting down cross leged on the floor

Ember rolled her eyes. "You can sleep on the bed with me, we'll both fit. It doesn't bother me." She moved on the bed so Ruby could have room.

"Uh okay" she smiled climbing into bed and wrapping her arms around herself.

Ember curled up and quickly fell asleep, sleeping deeply for the first time since the fog came.

Ruby slept lightly, dreaming of the fog.

Mary-Beth finished the dishes, going back into the study. She took the book off of Coal's lap and placed it back on the shelf. She grabbed a blanket to put over him before leaving and turning off the lights. She went outside, gardening.

Ruby dreamed of what happened to the people in the fog, but it was a nightmare. She woke up panting and slightly scared so she went downstairs to get a glass of water.

Mary-Beth had come inside, anticipating Ruby being awake. She met her in the kitchen, taking off her gardening gloves. "Bad dream?" She asked kindly, getting herself a glass of water too. Mary-Beth didn't need a spell to see the future to know Ruby's answer, it was written in how she acted.

"Uh yeah.." She frowned looking down shakily.

Mary-Beth smiled at her. "It's okay, we have all had bad dreams. Do you need to talk about it?" She asked, sitting at the table. She wanted to help Ruby. Ruby seemed like a nice girl that needed help.

"I-I just kept having these visions of families dying in the fog...and...and it was so horrible" She said with wide eyes.

Mary-Beth nodded. "The fog is scary for that reason. People do die in it, but only certain ones. You have a brother that was left in the fog and he is still alive. He had been changed by the fog, just a little due to his autism, but he is alive." She gave her a large smile.

"Really!?" She jumped up "this is great! Wonderful" She grinned

Mary-Beth nodded, solemn. "You can't just go in and get him out, Ruby. You have to end this fog to break him out and the longer he is in there, the higher chance he has to die." Mary-Beth fidgeted, tapping her foot lightly on the floor. She didn't like talking about such sad, unhappy things.

"Oh.." She frowned and looked down "I'm very close with my brother...I...I don't want to lose him" She swallowed.

Finally Mary-Beth smiled. "That's why you are here. To learn how to stop the fog. Let your brother motivate you. This fog cannot last forever. It will end eventually, but the question is if we are going to live as a population after it or not." She stood up, grabbing herself a granola bar. "Feel free to use my library, I'll be happy to help you find things if you need them."
Coal finally woke up with a start. He didn't mean to fall asleep. The book he had been holding wasn't with him anymore and he was covered with a blanket. He knew instantly that Mary-Beth did this. He grabbed his plate of food and began to eat it, slowly.

Ruby made her way up to the library, surprised to see Coal she looked down "s-sorry I-didn't know you were here....I-I-i'll go"

Coal shook his head. "You can stay, it's not my space to kick you from." He set his plate down and picked the book up. "Seriously, stay." He didn't mind Ruby being in here while he read, he could zone out easily if need be.

Ruby nodded and gave him a quick smile before grabbing a book and curling up in a big chair, wrapping a blanket around her shoulders.

Coal continued on with his book, eyes widening as he read something interesting. He knew that they would find answers here, but they seem so painstakingly obvious that he should have already known them. Coal took out his notebook and began scribbling information down.
