Martin didn't look back, he ran ahead of them as the citadel erupted with a wave of air, throwing them all away, sending them tumbling down a steep hill as the large structure then exploded, fire clawing its way toward the heavens. Rubble and sheets of metal flew through the air as it came crashing to the ground, the sound deafening.

Arland's head slammed against the ground, rendering him unconscious as Martin groaned in pain, running a hand down his leg to notice small shards of metal had penetrated his flesh from the explosion. He grimaced as he looked up at Mark, who had been stabbed with a sheet of metal in the chest. "Mark!" Martin yelled, over the distinct roaring of fire which made his ear blur. He scrambled over to the limp body, both eyes wide.

Alana screamed as she was thrown back and she hit a tree on her way down, breaking her arm and she grunted as she hit the ground, she looked up, her face blood spattered and bruised, at Martin's scream and her eyes widened. "NO!" She scrambled to get up and she cried out in pain from moving her arm, she clutched it as she scrambled over and knelt beside Mark. "No, no, no..."

Mark extended a hand as he tried pulling the metal from his chest, grunting with pain. "Alana..." He said, taking her hand as he gave up, his eyes drooping as they drew down.

Alana's eyes widened. "No, no, no. Mark hang on, we're gonna help you ok? Just hang on."

He laughed for a few seconds as he looked away, "End this all for me, okay?" He asked, the smile turning into another grimace as blood poured from his freshly opened wound.

"You can't go." Martin said, placing a hand on the sheet of metal, a tear rolling down his cheek. "No - you can't. Please."

Alana had tears in her eyes as she gripped his hand tightly. "Mark... please hang on ok? I'm gonna try and help you. You can't leave me too. You can't put me through that again."

"You have Martin and Arland - it's going to be okay." He gave one last smile as his body fell limp and his arm fell from hers, touching the dirt below. Martin took one step back and looked away, trying to hold back the tears which beckoned to fall from his eyes.

Alana's eyes widened and she sat there, frozen, holding air. "No..." She whispered as the tears suddenly sprung from her eyes and she gripped his body. "NOOO!!!!!"

Martin took a step away as he looked upward from the hill, staring at the destruction amidst the infinite swarm of clouds which blurred his vision. "We need to grab Arland and keep going." He said after a few minutes, tears quietly rolling down his cheeks.

Alana just shook her head as she continued to sob into Mark's bloody chest.

Martin crouched over Arland and sighed, picking his arm up as he dragged his limp body to the shelter of the hill, sitting next to him as he awaited for the accomplice to slip from his unconscious state.

Alana held onto Mark tightly, covered in his blood and continued to hold him even after she'd ran out of tears.

Arland's eyes flickered as he extended a hand and placed it on his bruised face, groaning as he came forward, looking straight at Martin. His eyes then flickered toward Mark's limp body, his eyes instantly closing at the sight. "No..." He muttered as he rested his head onto the grass, "No... he can't be dead."

Alana cried harder hearing him. She shook her head frantically as she clung to him.

Arland then opened his eyes, "What do we do now?" He said, not wanting to look at the body of his friend which had been brutally killed.

Alana didn't say anything.

Martin looked at the dying sunset and closed his eyes, embracing the darkness which suddenly encapsulated his presence. He then opened his eyes and stared at the crimson, glowing orb, inhaling and exhaling loudly. "I have no idea."

Alana continued to clutch him.

Arland rubbed a finger though the ground as he came to his feet, "Let's go." He said as he walked over to Alana and placed a hand on her shoulder, "We need to move on."

Alana tightened her grip on Mark. "No..." She whispered.

"We need to go." Arland said in a more defiant voice as he tugged her arm, trying not to look at his fallen accomplice. "Please, Alana." His voice turning more desperate and Martin came by his side.

Alana started crying and turned limp in his hands as she slowly let go of Mark.

"It's going to be fine." Arland said as he guided her away from the Mark and faced the sun, "Are you read to leave?"

Alana wiped her eyes with her bloodied hands and she just nodded.

He then began walking forward, Martin by his side as the sun dipped behind the mountains ahead and darkness engulfed them, the only source of illumination were the flames.
