Kai nodded slightly before falling forward into Phillip. She wasn't used to teleportation and it made her dizzy and exhausted.

Phillip placed one firm hand on her hand as he crawled away from the edge of the roof and gulped, "I'm not liking this..."

Kai tried to sit up on her own but was too dizzy. "Can we go somewhere that I don't have the risk of falling to my death please?"

"I wish." He said, "But I can't teleport for another few hours. "Our only choice is to explore this city."

"Isn't there a door from the roof to a stairwell?" she said lifting her head. Her eyes were weary and she could barely keep them open. "This is the worst case of jetlag I've ever had."

He laughed, swallowing his fear of lights as he kicked open a part of the roof which revealed a metal ladder which led to a seemingly bottomless pit of black.

Kai crawled over to the ladder and looked down it into the darkness. "You've got to be kidding. I can't do that like this. I'll fall off the ladder!"

"You'll be fine." Phillip said in a nonchalant tone as he followed after, the darkness swallowing his very existence extremely quickly.

Kai gulped and started her decent of the ladder. "Catch me before I hit the ground please."

"Dude." Phillip began saying, "You're below me."

"Right. Like I said: worst jetlag ever." She could barely remember where she was.

Phillip laughed, clinging on to the bars of metal, "Did I mention my fear of heights?"

"No. Did I mention that I feel like I'm falling when I'm not?"

"No." He said chuckling as he noticed a spark of light at the bottom of their trip.

"Well I do," she called up to him. Her foot slipped and she clung onto the ladder, the sliding noise echoing through the small space.

"Hey?" A voice called from below, "What was that?" The voice was deep and gruff, which most probably belonged to someone of the age of thirty, Phillip presumed as he froze.

Kai carefully placed her feet on another rung of the ladder and waited, hardly breathing.

Phillip tried looking through the shadows but he could hear nothing. His heart skipped a beat as he pressed a hand against Kai's elevated arm. He moved down slighty, attempting at making no noise, "Stay still." He muttered.

"I'm as still as I can be," she whispered. She was shaking but she had no control over it so he was going to have to try his best to work his way around that.

The figure below pressed both hands against the ladder and peered upwards as Phillip began climbing over his accomplice, ever so slowly.

Kai pushed herself as close to the ladder as possible to make it easier for Phillip to get past her. She also needed the break. Her head was spinning worse than before.

"3..." Phillip inhaled, prepping himself for what he was about to do. "2..." The man began climbing the ladder, looking forward in the darkness. "1." Phillip said as he let his feet hang lose and his arms slide down the metal rails. His shoes connected with the man's face and he fell to the ground in a crumpled position - obviously knocked unconscious.

Kai's eyes were shut tight. She didn't want to see or hear anything. But she heard everything. Her body had stiffened and she was so caught up in her fear of falling that she didn't even realize that the danger had passed.

"Sorry mate..." He muttered as he peered up the ladder, "You can come down now." He called before stepping away from the metal rails.

Kai opened her eyes and looked down at him. “Right,” she called back and started to descend slowly, still afraid she was going to lose her grip and fall.
