Lexi was perched in a tree, resting there in the shade. Her orange cat eyes closed and her black cat tail swishing back and forth beneath her lazily. It had been almost two years since she'd escaped the scientists and taken up refuge in the woods by herself. Lexi wasn't as different. She looked like most humans aside from her orange eyes, black cat ears and tail and some strange markings that appeared during the scientific changes that appeared all up her back and over her shoulders. Ever since the government became afraid of the 'experiments' scientists had been taking down any and all cross breeds they could find. The only safe place to hide was deep within nature, where the plants would attack any humans that tried to come after them. Lexi knew that she was by far not the only cross breed in this forest but she still lived alone.

Ali was laying under a large oak tree, his tongue hanging out of his mouth. His icy blue eyes darted around as he scanned the surrounding forest, he wasn't overly different to all the other humans apart from panting, fluffy ears and tail and light grey fur on his chest and back. Ever since he had escaped from the scientists he had lived alone, he didn't like being alone, but he had to escape them and if that meant that he had to live his life by himself, he would have to deal with it.

Lexi sat up with a lazy yawn and stretched her arms high above her head, arching her back like a cat would. She could feel hunger deep in her stomach, she hadn't eaten for a day or so. "I guess it's time to hunt." She muttered to herself and she ran to the end of the branch and jumped into the next tree silently, traveling like that with stealth and speed.

Ali got up from under the tree. He looked around the surrounding area to find something edible, it had been a while since he had eaten and he had nothing better to do anyway. He found some berries and ate them then he lay back down under the tree and slept.

Lexi was able to catch two birds with one attack, which didn't happen often, she strung them up and began carrying them back to her hideout to cook them up but the extra weight made it more difficult to jump among the trees and when she made it a few trees away before she slipped and fell down onto another sleeping experiment.

Ali woke up suddenly and saw someone laying on the ground, it was another experiment and was part cat. "Are you alright?" He said drowsily, he would have attacked if the dog part in him was more prominent but over the years he had learnt to control that side of him, he then held out his hand to help her up.

Lexi groaned in pain and looked up at the half dog experiment she'd landed near. "Yeah... thanks..." She said softly as she took his hand and stood up, looking around and scooping up the birds she'd dropped.

Ali stretched then yawned, "So what is your name?" he mumbled. He had never seen another experiment, so he was nervous, but he tried his best to hide it.

Lexi looked up at him, since he was a bit taller than her she had to and she shifted the birds on her shoulder. "Lexi. And you?"

"Name's Ali" he mumbled, he looked back at the pile of leaves and small firepit he called home, "Do you have a home, or do you just roam the woods" he asked.

Lexi shrugs. "I set up camp for a few days then move on to a new area. So I guess I don't really have a home."

"Oh, explains why I haven't seen you around before I guess" Ali looks at the sky and sees that the sun is setting. "I've lived here for a while... but it gets quite lonely around here with nothing but the birds to keep you company"

Lexi glanced at the dead birds on her shoulder she was planning to use for dinner.

"I guess you would by going back to your camp then" he turned around and lay on the pile of leaves that was on the ground and started a small fire. "You can stay here for dinner if you like." He grabbed some fish from a small piece of bark, tied them to a stick, and put them over the fire to cook.

Lexi nodded at his first statement and turned to go but at his offer and the smell of fish her ears perked up and she turned to look at the fish with hungry eyes. "I... guess I could stay..." She said, promptly sitting down and busying herself by plucking the feathers off the birds.

"Great!" He sat up and looked at Lexi, "How long have you been living in the forest?" He asked.

Lexi shrugged. "Two years." She said as she skewered the birds.

"Oh, I've been here for about 1" He said, he then looked at Lexi, he had aalways been a cat lover, so he smiled a bit without really noticing it.

Lexi looked up at him after she put the birds over the fire and looked at him curiously. "Whatcha smilin' at?"

Ali turned red, "err, nothing..." he said looking at the ground.

Lexi tilted her head in confusion but shrugged and went back to cooking her birds, eyeing the fish hungrily.

"I think the fish is ready" he took the fish off the stick and offered one to her.

Lexi's ears shot up and her eyes lit up in delight as she gasped. "Thank you!" She said happily as she took the stick of fish and took a big bite out of it, purring in satisfaction.

Ali smiled "You're welcome" he said before taking a bite out of his own fish.

Lexi ate ravenously, completely forgetting her manners in the delicious taste of the fish.
