Arland looked back at the structure they had just come out of, assuming the jails must have been underground. "Looks like they located this place out in the desert." Arland's eyes drifted across the yellow lands, then stopped over one of the white, army vehicles which they had used to come here.

Alana's breath was ragged and she winced in pain as the sand found it's way into her open wounds.

Arland ran toward the vehicle but Mark's attention was instantly directed toward Alana who was wincing in pain. "Are you alright?" He said, placing a hand around her and pulling the girl close.

Alana's breath was coming in short, painful gasps. "I think I... pushed myself too hard..."

"It's going to be fine." Mark said as he brought her over to the vehicle Arland was now in, awaiting for them to arrive. "Will you be alright for another hour?"

Alana nodded. "I should be..."

Mark nodded as he opened up the white and black door, revealing three seats and and swarm of confusing controls which flashed off and off. He awaited Alana to hop into the middle seat before following.

Alana sat in the seat and leaned back, letting her muscles give out painfully.

Arland then pressed a blue button in front of him and a steering wheel popped out, covered in slick leather. "Hold on." He said as he pushed at one of the pedals near his feet and the car moved backwards, a heap of dirt being thrown upward by the sudden wheel movement. Once he was faced away from the underground jail facility, he progressed forward through the seemingly endless desert.

Alana clutched her leg in pain as they drove.

Arland flicked a red switch which was on the steering wheel and a small, holographic display opened up, projected by a small box which was latched onto the inner roof of the vehicle. The display showed a map of their current location - the vehicle rumbling amidst the yellow wastelands. Arland then splayed his two fingers back on the solid projection and the map zoomed out, to reveal a small town far into the distance. He tapped the location and a voice beeped from the car. "Travelling to: Asral Residation. One-hundred fifty kilometres." The female voice bleeped as the projection faded away and the car began moving itself.

Alana groaned hearing how far away it was and she closed her eyes, trying to relax out of the pain.

Arland then shuffled away from the steering wheel which folded back into the front of the car. "What... What did you do back there, Alana?" He asked.

Alana kept her eyes shut and gripped her leg. "I don't... know... I just got really angry and suddenly... everything was moving the way I wanted it to..."

Mark looked over at Arland, "Alana is a defect clone... it's where her DNA is no longer 'perfect' and it starts to glitch which leads to supernatural abilities. It's quite a rare occurrence."

Alana nodded. "They called me a... glitch in the system... and that man... he wasn't even a clone he was..."

"He was what?" Arland asked, too confused to reply to Mark's unorthodox statement on how she had received these abilities.

"He was like some... half robot half clone hybrid..."

Arland nodded slowly as Mark instantly replied, "Did he tell you his name by any chance?" He said a little too hastily as the vehicle suddenly bumped upwards as it passed over a series of rocks.

Alana's eyes filled with tears as she searched her last memories of Felix for the name of the man... thing... but found nothing. "I'm sorry, I don't think he said..." She replied quietly.

Arland took her arm and squeezed it gently, "At least... At least you survived, Alana. Felix did a brave thing back there." He gave her a warm smile before returning to the driver's seat.

Alana looked at him as the tears rushed down her face and she finally let herself cry, in the safety of that small white car, in the endless expanse of desert, she cried, she mourned the the loss of the best friend he had been, the loss of the amazing hero he was, and the loss of the astounding man he could have been. "FELIX!!!"

Mark comforted Alana with a tight hand around her waist, muttering soothing words to her as he cradled her limp body which occasionally shook from her sobbing. Arland looked out the window as a tear subtly rolled down his cheek, which he rolled away with his black sleeve.

The artificial intelligence interrupted the tense moment, echoing through the small space in the car, "Fourty-five kilometres."

Alana barely heard the notification, it all seemed distant now, meaningless. But she knew she couldn't be weak, for Felix's sake if no one else's so she slowly pulled away from Mark and wiped her eyes until she could see out the window without it looking like the desert was drowning.

After around half an hour of silence between the three, Arland received the last notification from the holographic projection and dismissed the command as the steering wheel popped out once again. He placed both hands on the wheel as the sand ahead parted - to reveal a town which predominately consisted of houses made from wood and sandstone.
