Tarvo was confused. He didn't know why she would be saying "thank you" after what had happened. He didn't even remember her opening her eyes. Was she dreaming?

Karin began to slip deeper asleep.

The doctor looked on surprised. "I believe if you talk with her, it will help bring her out. Ask why she is thanking you."

"Karin. Why are you thanking me?" he said after a moments hesitation and a strange look at the doctor.

Karin smiled softly in her sleep. "You... make me happy..."

Tarvo raised an eyebrow. He... Made her happy? That wasn't even possible. Was it?

Alana smiled softly in her sleep. "You... saved me... you... gave me life... I... care about... you... I... l..." Her voice got softer and softer as she started to drift further into unconsciousness.

(Your name is Alana now? XD)

Tarvo stared at her. He couldn't believe what he was hearing. "Why do you care about me?"

Karin stirred softly. "You're... fun... and caring... gentle... and... didn't... abandon me..." Her eyes fluttered softly but remained closed.

Tarvo shook his head. "You shouldn't hang around me. All I do is get you hurt."

Karin's brows scrunched together and she frowned as she heard this and she started to wake. "No... you're..." She groaned and a hand lifted to her head as she slowly opened her eyes.

Tarvo's eyes widened. He couldn't believe she had woken up. Had he done that? "Karin?" he asked softly.

Karin looked over at him and smiled softly. "Hey..." She said weakly.

Tarvo smiled absentmindedly. "Hey."

Karin groaned and held her head as she slowly sat up and looked over at him. "Oh good, I'm glad you're ok..."

"I'm glad YOU'RE okay. I was worried sick." Tarvo looked away and sighed. He didn't want to feel responsible for her but he did, with every fibre of his body.

Karin looked at him sadly and gently placed a hand on his. "I'm sorry..." She whispered.

Tarvo sighed again. "It's not your fault. It's mine. I shouldn't have let you come with me."

Karin squeezed his hand softly and smirked a little. "You know I would have come even if you'd told me not to."

"I was afraid you'd say that," he said with a smile, turning to face her.

Karin laughed softly then winced, holding her head. "Dang it... I'm gonna have some serious migraine."

"I wouldn't worry too much about that. I'd worry more about possible scars."

Karin looked at him and smiled sadly. "Have you forgotten what my father did to me?" She asked.

He looked away and sighed. "No. I want to but I can't. My father has and will continue to do worse."

Karin looked at him sadly and squeezed his hand softly. "Well now we have your sisters, safe with us, and we need to stick together now that neither of us can go..." She was interrupted by a bulky man and a frail woman bursting in the door. "Karin! There you are you little pain! So you've been shaking it up with your boyfriend now have you!?"

Tarvo scowled and tried to keep his mouth shut but it wasn't possible. "You have no right to be speek to her like that. And I am the one who cares for her enough to try and keep her safe from the likes of you two." He sat up, the morphine making it possible for him to do so without pain. He stared at them coldly. It was the same stare he gave to many of the villagers. The one that made them shrink back in regret and agony.
