Kai heard her even breath and laid her down. He laid down next to her, planning on stay for a second to make sure she didn't wake up, but before that happened, he also fell asleep. He no longer held Kara, but in his sleep, he found her hand.

Brisa heard Hayden walk away, she wanted to stay out of it and maybe get some sleep. Then she heard what he said and she got up. He was upset, the least she could do was comfort him. She walked into the woods finding him quickly. "Hayden," she said gently, "you're not useless." She gave a small smile hoping she could help.

Hayden shook his head. "No, you don't understand, it always happens, always, I always let the people I love down. I can't do anything for them. First my mother, now Kara..." He looked over at her and gave a small, apologetic smile. "I really am sorry for what I said last time, I was just frustrated and took it out on you."

Brisa smiled, she cannot hold on to bad feelings. When she was hurt by the kids when she was little, she couldn't stay angry at them. "I think you only let them down in your head. You work so hard to help them, at least with Kara. You give them everything you have. Yes, love is not fare but if you truly love someone, it shouldn't matter if they don't love you back." Brisa looked at him with sympathetic eyes. She has liked someone before. She spoke to him every time she worked up the courage to go into the capital. Then on day, after she turned twelve, he didn't want to be seen with her. Brisa knew it was going to happen but she fooled herself into thinking that he was different when he wasn't.

Hayden looked at her and gave a small smile. "I know, that's why I left her to Kai. Needing to hold her down, unable to get her to calm down or think clearly... It was the first time I fully realized that I can't be the man for her. I'm not the one she needs..." He looked away, stiff and tense from the pain it caused him to admit it. "I'm not the one she needs, but the one she needs is a coward who would throw her away to protect himself..." He punched the tree again. "It pisses me off!"

Brisa got up and ran over to him. She grabbed him hand so he could no longer hit trees and looked up at him glaring, but not pulling it off. "Stop hitting the tree, if not for your sake at least the tree's." She turned and looked and there were two scorch marks on the trees. "It sucks to not be with the one you want to be with because there is another person. But with time, those feelings will fade." Her glare changed to a smile.

Hayden looked at her, then at the scorch marks, then back at her and slowly pulled his hand away from hers. "Sorry, I know, this isn't anyone's fault. I just hate that she has to love someone who is willing to give her up for their own benefit. I don't want her to get hurt..."

Brisa thought for a second, wondering if Kai would hurt Kara. "I don't think he will. He, like yourself, appears to not want her to get hurt." She then shrugged. "But what do I know, I'm only a ditzy air bender." She jumped on to the lowest branch and hooked her lags around it. She hung upside down, her hair almost long enough to touch the ground. Brisa didn't intent to prove her point of being ditzy but she did anyway.

Hayden let out a small chuckle. "You got that right." He tugged on her hair. "Total ditz." He let go then looked at her, his eyes serious but his face kind. "But maybe that's not such a bad thing." He headed back to the camp site and grabbed a blanket and curled up to sleep.

Brisa watched him leave, then climbed further up the tree. She got as high as she could and looked around. It didn't appear that anyone was coming this way, but she could be wrong.
Brisa jumped from the high branch of the tree, landing without a sound. She then ran to the camp and grabbed a blanked and used it as a pillow. She quickly fell asleep, but listened for any disturbance.

The next morning Kara slowly woke up, her eyes hurting from crying, and she felt something weighing down her hand, she looked over and saw that Kai had fallen asleep holding her hand. She looked at his sleeping face, so peaceful, so beautiful, for a long time. She didn't pull her hand away, in fact she held onto it, not wanting this moment to end.

Kai woke up and opened his eyes to Kara, looking at him. He then noticed her hand grasping his and wondered if she did that. Without thinking, Kai kissed her nose. He smiled for a second then realized what he just did. It felt like a natural reaction, but he knew he shouldn't have. He sighed mentally, then decided he shouldn't care. His smile returned to his face, "Good morning, Sleepy."

Kara's eyes widened in surprise as he woke up and she blushed as he kissed her nose. She stared at him, not moving from the spot she was in. "G-Good morning..."

Kai loved the way Kara's cheeks heated up anytime someone shows her any affection. Then he groaned, he just used the word love. He knew his behavior must be confusing Kara, but he couldn't help it. His feels for her were so strong, but he didn't want to hurt her. He decided then, if she ever showed any interest at all, he was going to give in. Until then, he was going to try and hide his feelings the best he could. He sat up, leaving his hand in hers, because she was holding to it tightly.

Kara looked up at him as he sat up then sat up as well, still holding his hand. She didn't do anything for a moment, just held his hand, then she let it go, looking incredibly sad and got up, grabbing some clothes to go change in the bushes, and left the tent.

Kai sighed. He was happy with his decision. He got up and left the tent to find Hayden sleeping and Brisa playing in the dirt with her air bending powers. "How long have you been awake?"

Brisa looked up for a second and then turned back to the dirt. She was making miniature tornadoes. "Since Kara woke up, I was woken up by the changing in breathing. I didn't want anything sneaking up on us." She quickly changed the way the tornado spun and watched in wonder.

Hayden groaned, awoken by the noise and sat up. "Hey, so what are we doing up so early?"

Kara finished changing and came back to the camp site, she was about to say something when the ground began to shake violently. She tried to keep the ground steady but this one was so violent that even her Earth bending powers were useless.

Kai fell over and covered his head. Not wanting to be hurt. He looked at Kara, trying to sooth the earth, but she couldn't. This worried him the most.

Brisa felt the tremble and quickly rose into the air, avoiding the shaking ground. She looked around and then hear snapping from the wood. A tree was falling toward them. Brisa slowed down the assent of the tree then pushed it to the side, so it didn't crush Hayden and Kara flat. When she looked at the fallen tree, she noticed two scorch marks at the broken shards where it broke.

The quaking lasted even longer than the last time but it eventually faded. Kara looked around at everyone. "Is everyone all right?" She asked.

"Yeah, I'm ok." Hayden answered as he slowly stood up and looked around. "What the hell was that?"

Brisa let her feet return to the earth. "It was an earth quake." She said simply as she went over to the fallen tree. She was sad that it feel, it might not have been due to Hayden punching it, but it didn't help. She rubbed the bark, saying thank you to the tree.

Kai got up and looked around. "I'm fine." He saw Brisa rubbing the tree that almost fell on them. She was weird, but she was powerful. "Why couldn't you stop it?"

Kara's eyes were wide and she looked very worried. "I-It was just too powerful... Pantera... she's scared, Jenny... something's gonna happen to Jenny..." Just then she saw a flash of something dashing away into the forest.

Brisa felt the thing wiz by, and turned to the other three. "What was that?" She started to walk in the direction it went.

There was a flash of blue hair, followed by a flash of red, then bald skin. Kara's eyes widened in fear. "Smothers..."

Kai sprung to life, the Smothers were all over their camp. He quickly sent water at an air bender, freezing it around is feet, planting him to the ground. "Someone take Aqua away." He hoped they realized what he was trying to accomplish by using aliases. He then dodged a fire ball that was thrown at him and shooting a water ball at the fire bender, but it splashed to the ground due to the water bender.

Brisa looked at the Smother. She had never fought before but she knew the day was coming. She quickly attacked the air bender Kai froze to the ground. He might now be able to move, but he didn't have to. The air bender sent and air ball at Hayden and Brisa shot it back at him, over powering him. It landed and sent him flying back, breaking him out of the ice. Then Kai shouted for someone to take Kara, and she wasn't sure who. Would she even leave them behind while they fought?

Hayden was too preoccupied with two water benders on his back, he couldn't make a move to protect Kara. Useless. The word played in his head like a chorus. Two Smothers, an air bender and a fire bender, went to attack Kara, on instinct she sent up the earth under them and flung them away for protection. Suddenly she was surrounded, even more Smothers came out of the bushes and attacked the others, keeping them away from Kara.

Brisa noticed the Smother's surrounding Kara and jumped into the air. The air benders tried to send her back to the ground but she just pushed harder and the wind underneath her. She made it close to Kara and started to attack the benders. They were at first focused on Kara and she swept them away quickly. Then some turned to Brisa. She smiled a beaming smile at them. Balls of fire were shot at her and she quickly cut off their air supply. Then a water ball headed in her direction. She held up a force field of air and the water ball smashed into it. More and more of the Smothers turned their attention to Brisa and she was quickly getting overwhelmed by stopping attacks. Finally a water bender got a shot. It hit her in the stomach and she clutched it. It hurt and then more attacks landed. A fire ball hit her in her shoulder and back. An air bender hit her in her feet knocking her to the ground. Brisa climbed to her feet and started to attack.

Kai was being hit over and over again by air attacks. There was no way for him to block them when so many came at him at once. Then there were fire attacks that he either dodged or sent water at. The water attacks were easy to stop. He finally started sending water at the attackers, freezing it the second he could, but more Smothers filled their place. Kai realized that they were going to loose if they didn't take drastic measures.
