The hospital swayed again, another pillar broke. Sirens blared and doctors ran, ushering patients to the door.

Kai didn't let go of Gandal's arm. When they had to stop she stood beside him. Her arm linked in his. She looked up but saw nothing but smoke. I'm not dying today,she thought.

Gandal moaned something which slipped past Kai's ears. Pain ruptured through his neck as he rushed down a long corridor.

Kai slowed. "Are you alright? I'm sorry if this is hurting but we have to keep going. We're almost there."

'No...' He mumbled, placing a warm hand on his neck, 'We must go..'

"The exit is this way. Come on." When she finally got outside with Gandal, she gulped in large amounts of air. "Alright, tell me what's wrong and I will try to fix it for you," she said as they crossed the street to get away from the crumbling building.

Abruptly half the hospital exploded, rubble exploding. He had witnessed enough explosions today so he shuit his eyes before speaking. 'Bring me to twenty-six Andes lane. An old... Friend.' He smiled, memories flooding back into his brain.

"Andes Lane? That's a good 400 metres from here. We can get there in no time. But you need to rest first. There's a bench over there. It doesn't overlook the hospital." She guided him to the bench. "Sit," she said.

Gandal nodded,'thank you Kai.' He smiled, a solemn smile. 'Your help is appreciated.'

"Pleased to be of service," she said and gave a little bow. When she stood she laughed. Then she at next to him. "What is hurting?"

'My whole body, especially my neck.' He pointed, 'that tranquilizer bullet he shot... Sure did hurt.' He moved his neck sideways, the gesture being replied with sharp cracks.

"Stop doing that. He didn't shoot a tranq. He shot a real one," she said sternly. She moved to the other side of him and peeled back the bandage. "It's started bleeding again. I'll need to rebandage it when we get to your 'friend'."

'Oh...' He said stunned.'we better be off now.' He got up, he found a lengthy stick in a nearby bush, using it for support as he walked. His whole body still crackled with pain. The sound of sirens blasted through the air, parades of people escaping from the rubble of the hospital.

They arrived at 26 Andes Lane in a matter of minutes. "There." She knocked on the door. "I hope you know what your doing," she said shooting Gandal a sideways glance.

A large man came to the door, speckled with freckles, Gandal!' He said in a Russian accent, 'what happened?'

'I was shot.' Gandal said uneasily, turning his neck so he could see the bandage.

Kai slapped his arm. "Don't," she said again.

'Sorry.' Gandal muttered.'Anyways, this is Jac, an old friend from a pub I owned from a long time ago.' Jack smiled, shaking both Kai's and Gandal's hand.

'Good to see you again.' Jack said, welcoming them inside the warmness of the house, 'I worked for the hospitals that just exploded,' he explained, 'lucky I went home early.'

"Errrr... Yeah. Good thing." She felt awkward with this Jack. Something was off.

"Something wrong?" Jack said, smiling warmly. As he said this, he brought Gandal to a large sofa, putting a pillow under his head. He carefully removed the bandage, grabbing a damp cloth and appllying pressure.

"Other than his wound, no," she said. She didn't smile back. "Sorry if I seem rude, but I am trying my best to look after him."

"Understood." Jack said, getting back to his work, applying a fresh wound and a sterile to clean out any infections.

She walked around the room taking note of everything. "You have quite the collection Jack."

"Thankyou." Said Jack, saying no more as he was concentrating on Gandal.

"Gandal, what do you do for a living?"

"I survive." He moaned under a cascade of blankets.
