Felix's eyes then moved over to Alana, "Alana!" He said, almost yelling the words as he sprang to his feet, bringing the gun with him, "Where have you been?" He asked, looking down at the gun before giving it back to the man.

Mark thanked him silently before slipping the gun into his pocket.

Alana smiled a little as she picked her story carefully. "Well, I broke my leg out on my bike again and had to get insta-healed and then I was walking around afterwards and cut up my leg again. So this guy offered to help me to the hospital to get the cuts healed up." She said, it seemed convincing enough, clones were never hostile so it wouldn't be unbelievable that he would help her if he was in fact a clone.

Mark nodded, "Yeah... It's best you leave now, Kid..." He nudged Felix with one large hand before placing the bag around his back once again and placing a hand over where the revolver is.

Alana looked between them nervously. "I'll um... see you later ok Felix?" She said.

Felix just stood there, not making any move, "Uh... I will... see you later." He muttered before staring at Mark, instantly recognising who he was, "Wait a minute..."

Mark began walking away before bursting into a temporary jog, moving out of Felix's field of vision. Felix's mouth opened and closed, like a stunned goldfish as he progressed with his walk, "I swear that guy looked like my Uncle..."

Alana stumbled after Mark as fast as she could on her ankle.

"How's the leg?" Mark said he glanced back at her before slowing down, "And who was that boy before... Felix?"

(lol wow, I thought he was about the same age as her )

"My leg's fine, and that was a childhood friend of mine."

Mark nodded as he peered back at Felix, "Thanks for the cover-up story." He said as he moved through the gloom and neared an elegant hotel which was nestled in the darkened corner of the city.

Alana nodded to him. "No problem."

As Mark opened the door to the shop, he saw a familiar face pinned against the wall by a large man. Felix had been pushed against the wall by a large, bulky figure who held a knife to his throat. "Hey!" Mark shouted, rushing forward.

"Felix!" Alana called running toward them.

The bulky man pressed the knife against Felix's throat harder and he yelped, gasping for air. Suddenly, a piercing bang ran through the air and the large man's body slumped to the ground as Mark's revolver slid into his pocket. Mark moved forward and put a hand on Felix's shoulder, "What's going on here?"

"Felix!" Alana ran over to the gasping boy and checked his throat for injury.

"Some..." Felix rubbed his neck before continuing... "Some guy just... brought me here and tried taking all my money. He said he... he said he was human."

Alana looked up at Mark nervously as she rubbed Felix's back comfortingly.

Mark sighed, pulling Felix from the wall, "Your neck has been cut, but you will survive." He said before turning toward Alana, speaking in a hushed tone so that Felix could not hear, "We can't avoid him - get him out of here. Please."

Alana nodded and took Felix's hand. "Come on Felix." She began to drag him out of the place.

Felix followed and once he exited the room he grabbed her hand, "Alana." He said hastily, "Tell me the truth."

"I..." Alana looked away from him. "I'm sorry Felix, I can't do that..."

His grip tightened as a chunk of his hair flowed over half his vision, "Alana..." He said, gulping, "I know something's up."

Alana took a deep breath and whispered. "I'm defective..."

Felix let go and stood back as Mark burst through the door, making him jump slightly. He brushed the clump of hair behind his ear before turning away. "I'm guessing you told him." Mark said with a slight huff.

Alana's heart broke as she saw her long time friend step away from her like she was a monster... well... in this kind of a world she was. She looked to Mark and nodded silently.

Felix then looked back, "Is there any way I ca--" Before he could say anything else, the blaring of police sirens interrupted them, making Felix jolt once again. Mark grabbed both their sleeves and began running through the dark alleyways,
