Kara smiled at him and took a bite of a sticky bun, happy to eat something sweet again. When the door burst open and the girl came in to hug Kai she jumped slightly and watched as they acted all lovey dovey, blushing slightly. When the girl noticed her and started accusing Kai she quickly stood up, putting down the sticky buns. "Please don't be mad at him." She said hurriedly. "He didn't do anything bad, he saved me, he brought me here because I don't have a home anymore. He let me wear his shirt because I only have the clothes I came here in. So please don't be mad, it's my fault, not Kai's." She looked at the beautiful girl, worried.

River looked at Kai. "So you didn't cheat on me?"
Kai looked at her, he was surprised she would think that. He would never do such a thing, he is not that kind of guy. "No, you should know better than to think that I would." A hint of ice entering his voice.
River went over and put a hand on his chest. "I do. But when the all the evidence is there, how can I not come to that conclusion."
Kai rolled his eyes. "I have missed you."
River hugged him again. "I missed you too." Then she practically jumped out of his arms. "I have some things I need to do. I'll be over at your Aunt Sofia's for dinner." Then she pranced out the door.
Kai looked at Kara. "Thank you and sorry you had to see that. She usually doesn't act like that." He looked at the door. She was acting very different. Kai began to be suspicious.
"I'll be right back. Feel free to look at my book or really anything I have. Don't venture out. I won't be gone long." Then Kai ran out the door.

Kara watched after him, feeling a little empty inside, it wasn't odd, he was all she had left and seeing him act so differently with someone else would naturally feel lonely... wouldn't it? She got up and dressed herself in her earth tribe clothes, she figured since the town knew she was here anyway she didn't need to fake her identity. It felt could to have the familiar material on. She then looked around and settled on reading a book about the history of how the tribes came to be.

Kai went to River's house first. He knocked but she never answered. She did say that she had things she needed to do.
Kai walked across the street to Julia's house, Rivers best friend. He knocked and she asked quickly. "Kai, you're back. River mentioned it. What do you need?" Julia had recently got married.
"Do you know where she would be? She came by my house and left really quick. It's not like her. She seemed worried." Kai looked past Julia, into the house. River wasn't in there.
Julia bit her lip. "Um, she has been spending a lot of time with Felix recently."
Kai looked at Julia quickly. "Felix? Why?"
Julia cleared her throat. "Uh, I...don't really know."
Kai groaned. "Thanks." Then he left, heading to Felix's house.
He waited outside, listening inside. He heard River's voice inside and she sounded worried. He knew she was acting different because she has always kept a calm head. She is the embodiment of an earth tribe member. She keeps a cool head, listens, and is a relaxed head. Her bouncing out of his house this morning was an overcompensation. She was hiding something.
"I didn't mean for it to happen. I just want it to be over, Felix." River pleaded.
Kai waited, listening.
"But you said that you would choose me over him. Now that he is back, you can't do it. You told me you were wanting to move on and that it would be over once he got back." Felix said angrily.
"I never said that. I did not want this to happen. I love him. This was never meant to happen."
Kai heard movement inside then River shouted. "Don't touch me."
Kai had enough. He burst in to find River and Felix standing next to each other and River was near tears.
She took in a sharp breath. "Kai, w-what are you doing here?" She tried to keep her voice lever even, but that didn't happen.
"I knew something was wrong. I was looking for you and Julie told you have been spending lots of time here. Now I see why." Kai glared over at Felix.
"No, this is nothing. Nothing happened." River took a few steps toward Kai but he held up his hands.
"I don't want to hear this. I can tell what happened and I don't want to hear you deny it or ask for forgiveness. This morning you accused me of this with anger in your eyes. I told you I would never do this to you, but you were willing to do it to me. I don't want to see you again. This is over and you can be with Felix if you want. I don't want to ever see you again." Kai turned to leave, but River grabbed his arm.
"No, I don't want to give up on us." She fell to the ground, pleading.
Kai looked down at her, defeated. "But I do. Bye, River." He slipped his hand out of hers. The good-bye was meant to be final.
Kai walked back to his small house, a house that was small because of her, like a ghost. Everything here reminded him of her.
He walked into his house and went straight to his room, a hollow person.

Kara looked up and smiled as he returned. "Kai! Welcome ba-" She was interrupted by the closing of his door and she looked after him, confused and worried. She walked over and knocked on his door lightly. "Kai? Are you ok...?"

Kai hear Kara concerned on the other end of his door. This is not the time to grieve. He pushed down the feelings of breaking up with his first girlfriend and the feelings of betrayal down. He needed to be the tough warrior for Kara.
Kai got up and opened the door. "Yeah, I'm fine." He paused. "My mother is having a dinner tonight, but until then do you want to go explore the ocean? I have a few awesome spots you might like."

Kara looked at him concerned, her head slightly tilted, like she was examining him. "What happened?" She asked.

Kai shrugged. "Betrayal, begging, break-up. Let's say I don't have a girlfriend anymore because she did what she thought I did this morning. Nothing really. It's no big deal. Happens all the time." He said it jokingly but inside he wanted to scream, go back and freeze her, to let his powers out. "So what about that walk?" He tried to change the subject.

Kara looked at him sadly, she felt so sorry for him. But she decided it was better not to talk about it more and she nodded. "Alright."

"Let me change and then we will go. Surprisingly, I haven't got dressed yet." He closed the door and changed. The feelings wanted to get out and they will in time. He knew the pain would get better, he just needed some time. And the next person to attack will regret it.
Kai went would his door. "Ready. Let's go."

Kara gave him a kind smile and gently squeezed his shoulder. "Alright, let's go." They headed out the door and Kara's eyes widened in awe at the amazing scenery.

"This is nothing. Wait until we get outside the bubble." He grabbed Kara's hand and started running for the edge.
The bubble was held up by three people at the time and was gigantic. No one besides water tribe are allowed in because if anyone attacks those three could kill most of the water tribe. But most who live down here have been trained for such events. The world on the outside was beautiful. Kai has heard that the ocean is a dangerous place, but living in it all his life has made him accustom to its wonder. He grabbed Kara's hand again because he dropped it when they arrived at the boarder.
"Ready?" He asked, turning his back to the wall and looking at Kara.

Kara was surprised when he grabbed her hand and smiled, glad he seemed to be a little enthusiastic. She'd never been in a relationship so she didn't know what breakups were like but she imagined they hurt quite a lot. She nodded, smiling. "Ready."

Kai fell back into the water, letting it get him wet. He pulled Kara with him. He started to swim through the ocean and looked back at Kara to see it she was swimming. He expected her to freak out. Kara probably expected them to air bubble there.

Kara's eyes widened slightly in worry but she allowed herself to be pulled into the water, she trusted Kai, she trusted him a lot, she swam after him and pointed to her mouth and nose area when he looked back at her, a questioning look on her face.

Kai shrugged and continued on swimming. There was an underwater cave close by that was full of air. Getting to his favorite place was part of the reason why it was his favorite.
He got to the cave and his lungs were screaming. He looked back at Kara before he went into the small cave. It only had enough room for her to poke their heads above the water.

Rose's face was turning red as she fought the urge to gasp for air. As they reached the cave she swam past him and broke the surface taking in a big gasp of air.

Kai swam up after Kara, breaking the water of the surface to gasp for air. He did not seem as bad off as Kara though. He laughed, filling the small area with his laugh as it echoed off the walls. "The next part is easier, I promise. I'll set up a bubble once we are there." He took a few more breaths waiting for Kara to seem ready to go. The space was tight and their bodies touched on occasion. Kai looked at Kara, seeing her for who she was. Her beautiful brown hair turned dark from the water that was now clinging to her face. Her cheeks were red from holding her breath. Her purple eyes were shinning from the low light.
He looked away, he just broke up with a girl he has loved for four years. He should not be able to move on that quickly.
Kai cleared his throat, "Let's go."
He took a deep breath and submerged.

Kara panted and slowly caught her breath, not aware of Kai's gaze and she smiled hearing his laugh, she was glad he seemed to be feeling better. She nodded and took a deep breath and submerged.

Kai swam the few yards over a small sand dune that revealed Kai's favorite spot.
The reef was huge and colourful. There were corals and sea fans a dazzling array of colours. The fish that lived on the reef varied in size and colour thousands of species had to live in the area. The creatures swam close to Kai as he settled down on the sand dune creating the bubble.
This was Kai's favorite place to be. The beautiful scenery allowed him to relax and let the things of the world go. This place helps him find his inner water bender calm.
The bubble complete, Kai looked for Kara to make sure she got there.

Kara looked around in awe as she passed over the sand dune. She settled down next to him and looked at him, waiting for an air bubble.

Kai brought air from the surface and created a little nest of air for them to breath. He could feel the energy it took to do such things with his power but it was insignificant. He was trained long ago for his stamina and was not easily drained.
"What do you think?" Kai asked Kara, leaning back onto the wet sand. "This is the place I always go when I need to get away from everything."
Kara was not the first person he brought here, but he did not want to thing of River. He never wanted to think about her again.

Kara smiled happily and looked around in awe, smiling. "It's amazing! When did you find this place?"

Kai watched as a nurse shark swam through the reef. The nice shark not disturbing the fish.
"I swim a lot." Kai chuckled. "Despite everyone's ability to do so, most water benders don't really swim that much. Not many people know about this place."
Kai looked at Kara, serious. "Does it bother you, being an earth bender, being under water?"

Kara shook her head. "Not at all. It's because I'm an earth bender that I'm fine with it. I always have the earth beneath me, keeping me steady." She smiled and made the sand float around them like a curtain.
