Jack nodded, popping out from his cover, "half a dozen of 'em. Easy." He smirked as he fired at one of the men. He took cover as bullet came his way.

Kai jumped behind the lounge again. "I only need one. He can die afterward if you want."

"Okay." He yelled over the shots of guns.

Kai leaned out again and shot another man. She had to dart between in and out a number of times. There were only two men left.

One more, aimed his shot then evaded from cover firing at one man in the head and another in the shin; causing him to fall to to ground.

Kai got out of her cover and walked over to him. She put her foot on his gun hand's wrist, kicking off his helmet with the other. He screamed in pain at the sudden weight on his fragile arm. "Who hired you?" she said sternly.

"Wait!" He called, as he looked up from a dead... body. "There aren't humans!" He peeled away skin that had been shot at to reveal numerous wires, "They're robots!"

"Then if they're robots, why do they feel pain?"

"It's most probably programmed into them. Kinda like a sensory system embedded into their processing chip." He explained, examining the bot.

"So what? They're useless?"

"Not... exactly." He mumbled.

"Can we tap their programming? I would love to do that."

"You can try." He said, "What shall we do with this live one?"

"I dunno. Gandal always did the dirty stuff and I stayed tech. I could try to tap into the files embedded in it's robotic brain. Hopefully we can get something useful out of it." She looked down at the robot-man again. "This make me sick."

Jack took one last glance at the bot before kicking the back of its head, a small slot being revealed. He took a tiny battery out. "Just as I assumed." He muttered as the bot shut down with a whir.

Kai ran and grabbed her laptop from behind the lounge. She grasped her satchel and pulled out a few leads and plugged the bot into her computer. She searched every file. She sat back stunned. "What was Gandal's surname?"

"It was..." He stroked his beard, "Gandal Anders." He said at last.

"Oh God no," she stuttered. "The guy who has been trying to kill us is called Anders."

"His last name... is Anders?"

Kai nodded. She didn't believe it either. Why would someone in Gandal's family try to kill them? Why would they kill him? "Do you know his family?"

"First name?"

"Brandon," she said with a sigh. She was reminded of her sister's ex.

"How many time do I need to tell you? I'm not going to let you cheat on my sister!" she yelled at him. Brandon had been cheating on Mary, Kai's little sister, for weeks. He moved forward an placed his hands on her arms. She shrugged free of him. "Especially not with me." He looked at her sadly.
"Come on Kai. One peck never hurt anyone." They were the same age. And he was handsome. Bu she wasn't like that. "It hurt Mary."

Kai shook her head and looked back at Jack.

"Brandon... he is Gandal's... father." Jack said.

"What? I thought they were dead." She looked back at the robot. It looked so human.

"It must have been framed... Maybe it was his mother that was killed. She was a rich woman."
