Pantera their planet is dying. Its people have lost touch with their earth because of the murders of their earth benders. They have been killed to near extinction and have all been placed in a sanctuary to keep them 'safe'. Will the murder be caught? Will the people get back in touch with the earth? Or will the murder succeed in his task to rid the world of Earth?

Kara looked around her tribe, searching for anyone who may notice her, seeing no one she sneaked out of the sanctuary. She needed some time to herself outside, she couldn't stand being cooped up in here any more, she needed to be out in the open for once. As an earth bender she needed a place where she could quietly commune with the earth.

Kai saw a girl leave the sanctuary looking to be of the earth tribe. He was sent to watch it because he is one of the best water benders for his age. He came up behind the girl. "You shouldn't be out."

Kara jumped and spun around, sending up a wall of earth between her and the stranger.

Kai expected that. He was trained from the age of 6 to be a warrior. Twelve years later, he was always ready for the unexpected. He jumped on top of the rising earth and jumped to the other side in front of the powerful earth bender.
"Sorry." He did not mean to frighten her. "I'm not here to hurt you. I am a warrior on post to protect you guys."

Kara backed away quickly as he jumped over but relaxed a little as he explained himself. "Oh ok. But I'm just going for a short walk. I'll be fine."

That was when the screams started. The sanctuary was being attacked by air, fire, and water benders.
Kai was worried. Did he let someone slip by by watching this girl? He realized that did not matter. He was doing the right thing by keeping an eye one her, because she now had a high chance of living.
"Come on." He grabbed her elbow and started to run for the forest.
An air bender was laying in wait there. He sent a pocket of air their way. Kai pushed water from the earth up to block it. No one expected his power due his colouring. Most water benders had blonde or blue hair, but his red hair suggested fire. But he liked that element of surprise.
He used the water he got from the earth and sent it toward him and then froze it. Few water benders can freeze water and even fewer can learn to control it. That was one of the reasons he was allowed on this job. They needed the rare gift he perfected.
He led her deeper into the forest and through every stream they came across. They did not need dogs following their trail.
When they finally stopped, he was even panting for breath. "Are you okay?"

Kara was dragged along. Once they stopped she gasped a few times to catch her breath then looked at him, her eyes furious. "WHY DID YOU TAKE ME HERE!?" She shouted. "Why did you take me away from my tribe! They need help!"

Kai glared at her. She was scared and worried. He knew taking her away was the right thing. Them being there would not have helped. Their numbers were higher than their own. "I took you away because if I did not, you would have been killed. You should be thanking me." Kai was sad about what events have just transpired, but hid is grief with cockiness and joking.

Kara had tears in her eyes. "I can't just run away! I have to help them!" She turned, about to run back.

Kai grabbed her wrist. "Oh, no you don't." He turned her to look him in the eyes. "You are staying here. They don't need our help anymore. By the time we would get back the fight would be over. And it is my top priority to keep you safe. So you are staying here even if I have to force you to." He rubbed his face and moaned. "I know you are distressed about what just happened. They are your tribe, but sending them to one place was like shooting fish in a barrel. I told them that, they thought they had enough man power to deal with the traitors, but it turns out we didn't. You can be the last earth bender in the world, making you as precious as any gem. More precious as our whole world. So please stay here."

Kara looked back into his eyes and the tears started to spill out and she slumped to the ground, sobbing.

Kai hated tears. He did not know why girls cried so much, but he did know it made him feel uncomfortable. This time, though, he knew why this girl was crying.
He sat next to her an hugged her to his chest. He did not say anything because he did not know what to say. Her whole tribe is gone and she is the only one left. He had no idea how that would feel. So he just stroked her soft brown hair, trying to soothe her.

Kara sobbed hard. "Mama! Papa! Kain! Jenny!" She called out the names of her tribe mates and sobbed for a long time until she passed out from exhaustion.

Kai knew there were not that safe this close, so once she fell asleep he found a creek. He picked her up gently so she would not wake up. He stepped into the water, but did not allow it to touch him. He created a bubble of air for them to stay in. Kai went deep enough that they would not be seen and cycled in fresh air so they would not die. He slept in short stints. Waiting for the only earth bender to awake from her slumber.

It was a few hours later before Kara woke up, she sleepily sat up and rubbed her eyes, looking around. She gasped as she saw that they were under water.

Kai smiled as the girl woke up. The blue reflected on their skin causing them to appear blue.
"Are you hungry? I can get us fish. Do you like fish?" He asked gently, hoping that she would be so caught up in the view that she would not recall the events of the previous day.

Kara looked around in wonder. "I like... fish..."

Kai watched as schools of fish saw by. They were fresh water fish, but he knew that trout were his favorite. He saw some and used the water to bring two to the bubble.
"I am going to cook these. I will be back once the are done. You will be safe down here. The bubble will NOT collapse. Promise." He gave her a quick smile before going to the surface. It took his a minute to start a fire and to skin the fish with his dagger. He placed them on rocks in the fire and scouted the area for any danger. These was none.
He knew he needed to send a message to his family about his survival and the girls, but he was unsure who should know this. If they kept it on the down low, there was no chance for her to be hunted. The only problem was people thinking he was dead. He had people back home that he did not want to think that.
The fish were almost finished and he wondered what the girl was doing under the water.

Kara nodded and watched him go, she sat down and looked around at the pretty scenery, feeling light until the events of the night before came rushing back to her, she let out a scream and covered her ears against the memory of her families voices, the sound swallowed up by the water, and tears streamed down her face.

Kai doused the fire with dirt and went down with the fish in tow. As expected, Kai found the girl crying. He thought the day before would come rushing back.
"Here. You need to eat. We have thing that we need to take care of." He handed her the warm but manageable rock with the fish on it and then took a big bit of his fish happy to have his favorite food in his belly.

Kara looked at the fish for a long moment, not doing anything, then she slowly picked it up and took a small bite out of it, chewing slowly, like she wasn't sure how anymore.

Kai cleared his throat. "So what is your name? We have known each other for almost a day and have been though traumatic things. I'm Kai, part of the water tribe and a warrior." He glanced at the girl with sad eyes. She must be a wreck right now.

Kara looked up at him, her eyes dark and haunted. "Kara... E-Earth tribe and... apprentice leader..."

Kai gave her a smile. "Nice to meet you." He held out his hand thinking that was appropriate, but then thought better of it and dropped it. "So we need to get to the kingdom."
There are four tribes and each had a capital on their allotted land. representatives from each capital go to the kingdom to discuss matters. Right now, they were in air tribe territory and in some of the little forest they have. Most of the air tribe land is mountains. That way why we chose it, it was unexpected for earth to want to be in air territory. Turns out that was the wrong decision. They were found two days after getting there.
"We need different clothes, because anyone part of the murders will recognize you. And I need to get a message out and we need answers." Kai got up, ready to get moving.
