| Have you ever pretended to be a different gender on the internet? Ever encountered anyone who did it and confessed at some point?
Ive never done it myself, but some people have told me they have. Seems odd to me, but to each their own.

| I've intentionally done it before just for fun, and it was funny seeing how people treated me differently when they thought I was a girl. In recent years, it's mostly them thinking I'm a girl because I tend to have an anime girl as an avatar, which somehow means I'm female. The more fun actions are when people treat me differently when they find out I'm not white. They go from thinking I'm a jerk, to kissing up to me to make themselves not look racist, because thinking someone who's a minority is a jerk is clearly a sign you're racist |

| Lol, i have pretended to be female on some app my friend let me use on her phone. It was pretty strange, the male on the other end was... really dirty minded and foul. It just shows to prove how easily people can masquerade but more importantly be tricked. |

| Being completely honest, I have pretended to be a girl many times in the past. As I know a lot of my Skype buddies know, sometimes I like to mess with my friends and pretend to be a girl. I don't think it's odd. I think it is interesting to see how you may be treated differently based on your gender. Like the member above pointed out, there are some weird people on the internet. |

| Never pretended to be male... Most people assume I am though and on have more than one occasion seemed shocked in finding out I was actually female, accusing me of lying to them... Even though I never said I was. I will roleplay as a male sometimes though. Not really the same but still kind of related... |

I know quite a few females that RP and they are good RP'ers. |

| I don't even have to, everyone just presumes I'm a guy anyway because I frequent games and technology forums. I mean, I get that my username isn't feminine but it's not masuline either. It's very strange.
I never announce my gender in intro threads or anything any more because I get treated differently because of it. Like, I'll say I'm a girl and the guys of the forum will be like, "Oh, don't worry that you're a girl, we'll keep you safe in this group of guys," and I'm just like, "wtf?" I mean, if I felt unsafe I wouldn't register in the first place. Usually if I do this, and then say I'm a girl later on, I always get the, "Woah, you're a girl" comments but people's behaviour towards me doesn't really change, and I prefer it that way.
I don't consider it acting like a guy, it's just playing to what people consider to be the norm, which often tend to be people thinking I'm a guy.
...and stuff. |

...and stuff. I assumed you were a girl from the start and I did not think of you the wrong way. At RPG Lounge, equality is the key, especially for me. I am sorry people treat you this way |

| At the moment, I don't really care. I used to but I will let people have their opinions. Afterall -- I know who I am and that's all the matter. |

| I suppose so, I allow people to have their opinions, and I respect that, but I Just don't like it when people judge ya too soon ya know? |

| Yeah, I understand. I remember being called, "A little baby." on an IRC channel because of my age. Like -- seriously? I didn't even know this person and they were so quick to judge. It really annoyed me but like you said, their opinion was respected. I don't consider myself as a baby because of my age though. |

...and stuff. I do this for similar reasons. I also have the habit of RPing as male characters, but that's just mainly due to the fact that most of my favorite OCs are male |
