| The Dreamer
The sun was a glowing orb, rising in the horizon. The wind was quiet, the sails blowing, the ship sailing slowly through the ocean as a great, vast island appeared. Umbala walked onto the old, rotten deck; a stench of strong, salty water made his eyes water. The ship came to a sudden halt as a giant splash of waves whipped him in the face. "Everyone march off this ship at once!" The captain ordered, loudly, Umbala was frowning and disappointed that this inconsiderate man would speak like this. Umbala walked, facing the neatly paved gravel, departing the old wooden ship. He saw the giant line, which was an army of ants scurrying to get back to their nest. Umbala reached the end of the line and caught the attention of a man in a blue and white suit. "Show me your passport or you cannot go through," The man with a gleaming silver badge demanded, with a husky tone. Umbala pulled out a tiny, laminated piece of paper from his dirty ripped jeans. The officer led him to a car. Umbala was dazzled by the lights, which were coloured red and blue and POLICE on the bottom of the flashing vehicle. Umbala was very puzzled as he wondered what it meant.Umbala lay on the pillow seat with his eyes closed but was woken by a sudden jolt. "Hurry Up this is your stop, and I don't have all day!" The officer growled as lines of stress covered his face. With his head between his knees, Umbala walked out and the officer threw out his suitcase that tumbled to the ground with a very loud CRASH. He pressed the doorbell; a middle-aged woman with black hair came out and looked at the boy with an evil grin lining her wrinkled mouth. "Come in," she laughed as numerous storm clouds brewed overhead. Obediently, Umbala followed his instructor; taking in all of the new sights. `Umbala sat down at the dining table. It was a rusty table, with stains all over it. Umbala watched as a young girl walked up the long hallway, her beautiful, untied hair swishing around. The woman brang in a pot, the smell filled Umbala’s nostrils which made his stomach rumble. "I am Britney Short and this is Stephanie," she pointed to the young girl." I am in charge here and you will do whatever I say, do you understand me!?" Secretly, he hated beef, yet he was grateful that these people were looking after him, so he decided not to mention it. "Now wash all the bowls up and make it snappy!" She growled. Umbala’s brown eyes watered as he went to wash the dirty filth that lined the greasy menace. He walked into his room, as tiny as it was, yet he still appreciated it.Umbala heard the sound of rain on the old, rusty tin roof as he started to unpack his leather suitcase. He pulled out dirty clothes, ripped shoes and a broken pencil until he found a photo of two, brown-skinned people which looked significantly similar to Umbala. "If only I could," a tear drew down his eye, he was losing hope, and he couldn't remember them because he never met them.He heard a knock on the door, Mrs Short walked in. "What are you looking at?!" She yelled, “A picture of your stupid little family!" She snatched the photo out of his hands, looked at it, and then snapped it. Glass shattered and danced around the floor. Umbala cried like a giant volcano was erupting. His tears were like streams of fast-flowing lava going down a steep mountain. "See you tomorrow morning," she hissed, marching down the old hallway like she was completely innocent. He ran outside, his tears were like giant rivers, running into an ocean. He sat on the damp grass, water pouring onto him. Umbala heard the squeaky door open, but he did not turn in case it was the most arrogant person in the world. A small, cold hand tapped his shoulder. He turned slowly, seeing that it was Stephanie Short. She sat down beside him. "You know, I care about you unlike my rude mother," she said, her eyes were blue diamonds, sparkling in the night sky. "Well, see you soon," she said, skipping merrily back inside. Umbala was desperate to see his real family. His mouth gaped in horror just thinking about it.It was early in the morning, the sun was rising, and the chirps of birds echoed the large, vast valley. Umbala was strolling around paddock, wondering if there was a way to find his sister and mother. He hated the way Mrs Short treated him but he didn't want to go back; back to the horrible war. Umbala saw Stephanie in the distance, lying on the comfy, cold grass. "Stephanie; could you please help me?" Umbala asked, hoping she would. "Of course," she insisted, smiling. "How can I help?" “I want to find my real family," he whimpered, tears rolling. "Well I will see what I can do," she replied, happy to help.A few days later, Umbala woke suddenly, hearing someone knocking on the door. He could taste the dirt and grit coming off the door, making his stomach churn. The dusty wooden door opened, a small figure walking through. “I have found a way to help you Umbala,” she said, yelling loudly making the sound echo off all the walls. Umbala realised it was Stephanie. He jumped up, “How can you help me?” He yelled, his excitement rising, the tension was building. “Our neighbours are nice people that help refugees; if you go they may be able to help you. Go now, I will distract mum while you go there.” He stared for a minute, wondering if this is the best dream in his life. “Goodbye, Thank you for helping me, I will never forget you.” He turned around; tears were rolling drums, making music from happiness. He started to walk towards the sunrise; a new life was ahead of him. |

| Very interesting, but it's really hard to read. You should definitely change the color of the font. |
